Claire Laver, now serving as Executive Director of Franklin’s Paine Skatepark Fund, comes to FPSF from over a year of managing GirlSportWorks, an empowerment through athletics program for girls in Cusco, Peru. She has worked and volunteered for over a decade in youth educational programming initiatives and community building projects, most recently by serving as a Nutrition Educator for The Food Trust in Philadelphia, and coordinating National and Global Youth Service Day through the Mayor’s Office in Washington, DC.
Claire grew up outside of Philadelphia and stayed in the area to earn her Bachelor of Arts in Urban Studies with minors in Spanish and Art History from the University of Pennsylvania. She is a founding member of, and active participant in the Interfaith Community Building Group of Philadelphia, a local group that works to build community through construction projects, both nationally and internationally. In December of 2011, Claire was featured in the Philadelphia Business Journal as a "Person to Watch in 2012" young entrepreneur.
She is a life-long competitive soccer player, and carries with her a deep passion for urban planning and the development of vacant, blighted, or underused urban spaces to best suit community needs.
