We are very excited to announce that the long wait for Paine's Park is almost over! Our Groundbreaking Ceremony is now set for Friday, October 12th, at 11AM on the Paine's Park site on Schuylkill Banks. We are so grateful for the multitude of people who have believed in, and supported this project over the years and we wouldn't be where we are today without this group effort. Let's get those shovels in the ground!
Get ready for the 2012 Philly Cup!! Franklin's Paine and Philly Parks and Rec have teamed up to organize four skate competitions running from June through October, engaging groms, teens and adults. All events are on Saturdays with sign ups starting at 11am and the competitions beginning at 12:30pm. Full schedule is as follows:
After passing through Committee last week, Bill #120534 is scheduled for a final hearing on Thursday, October 4th during City Council's 10am meeting in room 400 of City Hall. Everyone is very much encouraged to come out, and get involved in the process. Testimonies from the public under 3 minutes will be permitted through the hearing.
The Committee on Public Property and Public Works of the Council of the City of Philadelphia will hold a Public Hearing on Tuesday, September 25th, 2012, at 1pm in Room 400, City Hall, to hear a testimony on the following item:
" #120534: An Ordinance amending Title 10 of the Philadelphia Code, entitled "Regulation of Individual Conduct and Activity," to prohibit certain activities that damage, deface, or risk damage to, public artwork or memorials, and to provide for penalties for violations of such prohibitions, all under certain terms and conditions."

On Wednesday, March 21st at 7pm, Franklin's Paine will meet with the Grays Ferry Community Council to present our final design for the Grays Ferry Crescent Skatepark Project anticipated to break ground this spring. Check back for an update on the outcome of this meeting!
Sponsored by the People's Emergency Center CDC and the HUB Coalition, a community event will be held at 37th and Mount Vernon Streets on Monday, June 21st from 4-7pm in honor of national Go Skateboarding Day. The event will feature skate competitions, food, music, and give-a-ways!
