City of Philadelphia partners with non-profit to begin creating Philadelphia’s first city-wide skateboard park development plan

In late December 2010, Franklin's Paine and Jesse Clayton of Fifth Pocket completed our second phase of construction at Whitehall with the addition of three new old growth white pine benches made from 95% recycled materials.  Stay tuned for details on phase three coming in 2011!

Check out the website for our friends over at Bambusa Skateboards:  Their 70% bamboo hybrid decks feature an improved construction with over 2 years of research and development.  For every 25 decks they sell, they will donate one to Franklin's Paine to help support our youth programs!  Order a Bambusa deck online or check out your local skateshop.

Thank you to everyone who came out on Saturday, 10/30/10 to show their support for Paine's Park and the development of skate space all around the city!  We had a great turn out and are definitely feeling the momentum moving forward.  Click here to check out more photos from the event on our facebook page!

Join Franklin's Paine and professional skater Kerry Getz on Saturday, October 30th at 1pm on the future site of Paine's Park for a photo rally in support of Paine's Park and the development of more skateparks around Philadelphia.   We are trying to gather the largest group of skaters and supporters possible for a group photo that will show support in numbers.  For more information on the photo rally please click here!

Click here to read the October 2nd, 2010 article in the Ambler Gazette on the proposed skatepark project at Knight Park.  Both Franklin's Paine and Fifth Pocket Design and Consulting are working with the Borough of Ambler to develop this project.  We anticipate this project to break ground in March or April 2011.  Stay tuned for more details!

Click the link below to check out a video by Phil Gushue of our recent construction project at Whitehall Skatepark!  Several new obstacles were added to the park including a 45' long half pyramid with step ups to hubbas in July, 2010.  Many thanks to Phil, Jesse and all of the volunteers for their great work on this project!

We hope you can join us for the 2010 World Championships of Freestyle Skateboarding presented by Powell Peralta Skateboards and Concrete Wave Magazine!  The event will include a competition of over 80 skaters from 11 countries and will also include a trade show featuring sponsoring manufacturers, local skate shops, nonprofits, artists and local businesses.  Donations made by the participating vendors will benefit the work of Franklin's Paine!
