On Thursday, December 13th, City Council voted to pass the amended version of bill #120534 sponsored by Councilman Oh in a vote of 12-4 with one member, Councilmember Keeney, abstaining from the vote.  Councilmembers voting against the bill include Blackwell, Bass, Goode and Johnson.

On Saturday, October 6th, we had our fourth and final stop in the 2012 Philly Cup Series.  The weather was perfect, the turnout was great and everyone had a blast!  We want to once again thank all of our sponsors including Philadelphia Parks and Recreation and Vitaminwater for the awesome support in this inaugural year, and of course everyone who came out to compete and support.  We can't wait to expand on the success of this first year in 2013!  Check back in for details as summer 2013 approaches.

On Friday, October 12th, 2012 at 11AM, Franklin's Paine Skatepark Fund broke ground on our marquee project, Paine's Park!  We were joined by speakers Deputy Mayor for Environmental and Community Resources, Michael DiBerardinis; Senator Larry Farnese; State Rep. Babette Josephs and Anthony Bracali, Principal of Friday Architects / Planners.  We were also joined by over 150 friends and supporters from the skate community and Philadelphia at-large and were overwhelmed by the support and enthusiasm!

Franklin's Paine Skatepark Fund Funder, Josh Nims, was featured on a Philly.com "One Great Idea" segment.  He talks about the great idea of bringing a large, public skate plaza to Eakin's Oval / Schuylkill Banks, and the beauty of skateboarding.
