Granahan Playground

6500 Callowhill Street
Philadelphia, PA 19151

Granahan Playground, located at 6500 Callowhill Street in West Philadelphia, houses an under-utilized roller hockey rink similar to Pop’s Playground prior to the skatepark’s construction.  A local community leader approached us with an idea to turn this neglected rink into a skatepark and she has rallied support from many of her follow community members.

We engaged our students from the Charter High School for Architecture and Design’s Skateboard Program to help with the creation of this new space.  During regular after-school design sessions, the students completed a proposed design for the space.  The design was presented to the community during a December 2010 meeting and the proposal was met with unanimous support.

FPSF will continue to work with the neighbors of Cobbs Creek North, Philadelphia Parks and Recreation and the CHAD students to continue developing this project.
