Because it’s a hybrid mattress, the DreamCloud meets a number of our standards for what a quality bed must have. With 8 exceptional layers of comfort and support, the DreamCloud uses all the proper materials in its construction. Wink Bed vs Dreamcloud
From the tufted cashmere cover that gives great airflow, to the gel memory foam at the uppermost comfort layer, the DreamCloud was made to deliver a cooler night’s sleep. Below that are a mix of polyurethane foam and latex layers, meaning this bed includes better quality relaxation materials than most other hybrid mattresses.
Even though it utilizes multiple memory foam layers, there is not any hug or significant shaping to the bed. If you are looking to sink into a mattress, then proceed from the DreamCloud.
A pocketed coil support core keeps you aligned all night long, especially for all you back sleepers out there.

Construction Wink Bed vs Dreamcloud
The DreamCloud features a tall profile for a mattress at a humongous 15 inches. The eight-layer construction is broken down to foam and wrapped coil components, which operate in tandem to supply the sleeper with a strong innerspring lift and plenty of comfy pressure relief.
Given all of the different materials at play here, I am stoked to get into these layers to understand how well they interact together. Wink Bed vs Dreamcloud
Cover – The cover is made up of a cashmere and polyester mix for a luxuriously soft feel up top. It’s also quilted with memory foam, which provides the sleeper with immediate pressure relief.
Foam Layers – Below the cover, you’ll discover three thin layers of polyurethane. While these segments are soft to the touch and supply some pleasing sinkage, they also react quickly to pressure, so that you won’t feel stuck in the bed. The center of these three layers is especially important because of the temperature regulation of the DreamCloud as it is made up of perforated latex foam. Latex in general is great at dissipating heat, so the inclusion of those small ventilations promotes even more cooling.
Pocketed Coils – The base layer of polyurethane transitions to the firmer support section of this mattress, which is made up of a pocketed coil system. These individually wrapped springs give the mattress excellent bounce and help to disperse motion throughout the mattress. The coils also aid in moderating temperature as the distances between them permit continuous air flow.
Foundation Layer – A thin layer of high-density polyfoam lies at the base of the mattress, with the major function of cradling the pocketed coils and providing a sound foundation for the whole mattress.
Firmness
After having a look at the construction of the DreamCloud, let us talk about the firmness and feel. I started off by putting mild hand pressure into the bed and instantly felt the soft foam of the quilted cover and top layers. My hand flowed into the material and I could sense some instantaneous pressure relief. Pushing in further, I began to interact with the pocketed coils below and experienced a pleasant lift from these springs.
Now I’d like to note that individuals of different body types and shapes will sense firmness differently. Rather than giving only my view on the overall firmness level of the mattress, I invited three other people to give their view too. This will give you a much better feeling of the firmness range you can expect from the bed.
As you can see in the chart above, the testers were in agreement about the stability of the DreamCloud, giving it a mean score of 7.75. Compare this to the market standard of 6.5 for medium firmness and it is clear that this mattress is really firm.
I personally gave the mattress a 7.5 and agree with the other testers that it is definitely a good mattress. At the same time you’ll feel some small sinking because of the lavish foam top layers, the individually wrapped coils at the center will lift you out of the mattress and make you feel as though you’re sleeping on top of the mattress.
Pressure Map
Rather than simply describing the feel of this DreamCloud to you, I chose to provide a visual representation of where someone may feel pressure points shape while lying on the mattress. To do so, I placed a pressure map on top of the mattress and lied on my backside, and stomach. You can see the outcomes on the picture below where pressure is represented from blue (low pressure) to red (high pressure).
Back – Once on my back, my weight was evenly distributed across the mattress, therefore I didn’t feel like I was sinking into the bed in any way. The quilted cover provided quality relief at my lumbar region and the pocketed coils helped lift me out of the mattress and keep my spine in alignment.
Side – As you can see in the graph above, once I rolled onto my side, I started to feel pressure forming in my hips and shoulders. But, I felt supported while the top foam layers relieved what discomfort I felt in this position.
Stomach – Shifting over to my belly, I thought that the DreamCloud did a great job of lifting my hips up and from the mattress, which can be key for stomach sleepers. I should mention that I managed to transition across these positions with comparative ease.
Motion Transfer
If you intend on sharing your mattress with a spouse, you’ll want to know what it will feel like when the other person crawls out of bed in the morning or tosses around during the nighttime. This next test is meant to demonstrate the intensity of motion that is detectable from one side of the mattress from another. Wink Bed vs Dreamcloud
To show you this motion transfer, I dropped a 10 lb steel ball from heights of 4 inches, 8 inches and 12 inches and quantified the disturbance it generated: the larger the lines, the larger the disturbance.
The DreamCloud demonstrates a small amount of disturbance for the four inch drop, which simulates someone rolling around and adjusting their position on the other side of the mattress. While the 8 and 12 inch drops reveal slightly bigger spikes, I’d still regard the mattress to be pretty good at isolating motion, thanks to its individually wrapped coils. This means you’re not likely to be too disturbed by your mattress mate’s midnight shimmies, making this an awesome solution for couples.
Sinkage Test
While purchasing a new bed, most people want to know whether they’ll feel as though they’re sinking”into” the mattress or lying “on top” of it. To visualize this sinkage, I put 4 balls of varying sizes and densities (a 6 pound medicine ball, a 10 lb steel ball, a 50 lb medicine ball, and a 100 pound medicine ball) on the mattress and quantified how much they compressed the surface.
The variations in size, density and weight are meant to mimic distinct body parts and different sized sleepers. Wink Bed vs Dreamcloud
– 6 lb medicine ball: 1.5 inches of sinkage.
– 10 lb steel ball: 2 inches of sinkage.
– 50 lb medicine ball: 4.5 inches of sinkage.
– 100 lb medicine ball: 5.5 inches of sinkage.
Even though you’re going to encounter some instant sinkage from the soft foam on top, by the time you sink through those layers, you’ll hit the wrapped coils and feel amazing support. This combo will interest a vast assortment of sleepers, but will satisfy stomach and back sleepers the most.
Edge Support
If you are going to share your bed with a partner and will need to utilize the whole surface area of the mattress, then it’s going to be crucial that you think about the amount of edge support it’ll provide.
I am particularly interested to see whether the DreamCloud will endure the same fate as other compressed bed-in-a-box mattresses that fail to live up to the edge support of more conventional innerspring models.
Lying on my back, I felt as supported at the edge of the mattress as I did at the center. Pressing closer to the side, I felt a little compression because of the highest foam layers, but nothing too dramatic.
Shifting to my side, I once again noticed compression in the foam layers, but it didn’t carry over into the coil system below. This system, along with the polyfoam edge support around the mattress, did a good job of supporting my body.
In this position, I wanted to simulate what it would feel like to be sitting on top of the mattress in the morning when you are lacing up your shoes and getting ready for the day. A lot of foam mattresses undergo a lot of compression in this position, but the DreamCloud really held up fairly good.
