As a hybrid mattress, the DreamCloud meets many of our criteria for what a quality mattress must have. With eight unique layers of support and comfort, the DreamCloud uses all the right materials in its construction. Dream Cloud Glass Sink
From the tufted cashmere cover that gives good airflow, to the gel memory foam at the uppermost comfort layer, the DreamCloud was made to deliver a cooler night’s sleep. Below that are a mix of memory foam and latex layers, meaning this mattress contains better quality comfort materials than most other hybrid beds.
Even though it utilizes multiple memory foam layers, there is not any hug or significant contouring to the bed. If you are looking to sink into a mattress, then proceed from the DreamCloud.
A pocketed coil support center keeps you aligned all night long, especially so for all you back sleepers out there.

Construction Dream Cloud Glass Sink
The DreamCloud has a tall profile for a mattress at a whopping 15 inches. The eight-layer construction is broken down to foam and wrapped coil parts, which work in tandem to provide the sleeper with a firm innerspring lift and plenty of comfy pressure relief.
Given all the different materials at play , I am stoked to dive into these layers to see how well they interact with one another. Dream Cloud Glass Sink
Cover – The cover is composed of a cashmere and polyester mix for a soft texture up top. It’s also quilted with memory foam, which supplies the sleeper with instant pressure relief.
Foam Layers – Under the cover, you’ll discover three thin layers of foam. While these sections are soft to the touch and provide some satisfying sinkage, they also react quickly to pressure, so you won’t feel trapped in the bed. The middle of the three layers is especially essential for the temperature regulation of the DreamCloud as it’s comprised of perforated latex foam. Latex in general is great at dissipating heat, so the addition of those small ventilations promotes even more cooling.
Pocketed Coils – The base layer of polyurethane transitions to the firmer support segment of this mattress, which is composed of a pocketed coil system. These individually wrapped springs give the bed excellent bounce and help to disperse motion throughout the mattress. The coils also assist in moderating temperatures as the spaces between them allow for steady air flow.
Foundation Layer – A thin layer of high-density polyfoam is found at the bottom of the mattress, with the main function of cradling the pocketed coils and providing a solid foundation for the entire mattress.
Firmness
After having a peek at the construction of the DreamCloud, let’s chat about the firmness and feel. I started off by applying light hand pressure to the bed and instantly felt the soft foam of the quilted cover and top layers. My hands flowed into the material and I could feel some instant pressure relief. Pushing in further, I began to interact with all the pocketed coils below and experienced a nice lift from the springs.
At this point I’d like to let you know that individuals of different body shapes and types will feel firmness differently. Rather than giving only my view on the overall firmness level of this mattress, I enlisted three additional individuals to present their view as well. This will give you a better sense of the firmness range you can see from the bed.
As you can see in the chart above, the testers were in agreement about the stability of this DreamCloud, giving it a mean rating of 7.75. Compare this to the industry standard of 6.5 for moderate firmness and it is apparent that this mattress is pretty firm.
Personally, I gave the bed a 7.5 and agree with the other testers that it’s definitely a good mattress. While you’ll feel some slight sinking because of the lavish foam top layers, the individually wrapped coils in the center will lift you from this mattress and make you feel as though you’re sleeping on top of this mattress.
Pressure Map
As opposed to just describing the feel of the mattress to you, I chose to provide a visual representation of where somebody may feel pressure points form while lying on it. To do so, I placed a pressure map on top of the mattress and lied on my backside, and stomach. You can find the outcomes on the picture below where pressure is denoted from blue (low pressure) to red (high pressure).
Back – Once on my backside, my weight was evenly dispersed throughout the mattress, so I didn’t feel like I was sinking into the bed at all. The quilted cover provided quality relief at my lumbar area and also the pocketed coils helped to lift me out of the mattress and keep my back in alignment.
Side – As you can see in the chart above, after I rolled onto my side, I began to feel pressure forming in my hips and shoulders. But, I felt supported while the top foam layers alleviated what distress I felt in this position.
Stomach – Shifting over to my stomach, I believed the DreamCloud did a fantastic job of lifting my hips upward and out of the mattress, which can be key for stomach sleepers. I should mention that I was able to shift across these positions with relative ease.
Motion Transfer
If you plan on sharing your mattress with a spouse, you will want to find out what it will feel like when the other person crawls out of bed in the break of dawn or tosses around during the night. This next test is meant to demonstrate the high level of movement that’s detectable from one side of the mattress to another. Dream Cloud Glass Sink
To show you this motion transfer, I dropped a 10 lb steel ball from heights of 4 inches, 8 inches and 12 inches and then quantified the disturbance it generated: the larger the lines, the bigger the disturbance.
The DreamCloud demonstrates a small amount of disturbance for the 4 inch drop, which simulates somebody rolling around and adjusting their position on the other side of the mattress. While the 8 and 12 inch drops reveal slightly larger spikes, I’d still consider the mattress to be quite good at isolating movement, thanks to the individually wrapped coils. This means that you’re unlikely to be too disturbed by your bed partner’s midnight shimmies, making this a great option for couples.
Sinkage Test
While purchasing a new bed, most people wish to know whether they will feel like they’re sinking”into” the mattress or laying “on top” of it. To visualize this sinkage, I put four balls of different sizes and densities (a 6 lb medicine ball, a 10 lb steel ball, a 50 lb medicine ball, along with a 100 lb medicine ball) on the mattress then quantified how much they compacted the top.
The variations in size, density and weight are supposed to simulate distinct body parts and different sized sleepers. Dream Cloud Glass Sink
– 6 lb medicine ball: 1.5 inches of sinkage.
– 10 lb steel ball: 2 inches of sinkage.
– 50 lb medicine ball: 4.5 inches of sinkage.
– 100 lb medicine ball: 5.5 inches of sinkage.
While you’re going to encounter some instant sinkage from the soft foam on top, by the time you sink through those layers, you are going to hit the wrapped coils and experience fantastic support. This combo will appeal to a vast assortment of sleepers, but will satisfy stomach and back sleepers in particular.
Edge Support
If you’re going to share your bed with a partner and need to utilize the whole surface area of the mattress, then it is likely to be crucial that you think about the amount of edge support it’ll provide.
I’m particularly interested to see whether the DreamCloud will endure the exact same fate as other compressed bed-in-a-box mattresses which fail to fulfill the edge support of more conventional innerspring versions.
Lying on my back, I felt just as supported at the edge of the bed as I did at the center. Going closer to the side, I experienced a bit of compression due to the top foam layers, but nothing too dramatic.
Shifting to my side, I noticed compression in the foam layers, but it didn’t carry over to the coil system beneath. This system, along with the polyfoam edge support round the mattress, did a good job of supporting my weight.
In this position, I wished to simulate what it would feel like to be sitting on top of the mattress in the morning when you’re tying your shoes and getting ready for work. A lot of foam mattresses undergo a lot of compression in this position, but the DreamCloud actually held up fairly well.
