Cover – The cover is composed of a cashmere and polyester blend for a luxuriously soft texture up top. It’s also quilted with memory foam, which provides the sleeper with immediate relaxation.
Foam Layers – Under the cover, you will find three thin layers of foam. While these sections are soft to the touch and provide some pleasing sinkage, they also react quickly to pressure, so that you won’t feel trapped in the mattress. The middle of these three layers is particularly important because of the temperature regulation of the DreamCloud as it is made up of perforated latex foam. Latex in general is good at dissipating heat, so the inclusion of these small ventilations promotes more cooling.
Pocketed Coils – The base layer of polyurethane transitions into the firmer support segment of the mattress, which is composed of a pocketed coil system. These individually wrapped springs provide the bed excellent bounce and help disperse motion throughout the structure. The coils also assist in regulating temperatures as the distances between them allow for steady air flow.
Foundation Layer – A thin layer of high-density polyfoam lies in the bottom of the mattress, with the major use of cradling the pocketed coils and offering a solid foundation for the entire mattress.
Firmness
After taking a look at the construction of the DreamCloud, let us talk about the firmness and feel. I started off by applying mild hand pressure into the bed and immediately felt the soft foam of the quilted cover and first layers. My hand flowed into the material and I could feel some instantaneous pressure relief. Pushing in further, I began to interact with the pocketed coils beneath and experienced a nice lift from the springs.
Now I want to let you know that individuals of different body shapes and types will feel firmness differently. As opposed to giving just my view on the overall firmness level of the DreamCloud, I enlisted three additional people to give their opinion too. This will give you a much better feeling of the firmness range you can see from the bed.
As you can find in the chart above, the testers were in agreement about the firmness of this mattress, giving it a mean score of 7.75. Compared to the market norm of 6.5 for medium firmness and it is apparent that this mattress is pretty firm.
I personally gave the bed a 7.5 and agree with the other testers that it’s definitely a good mattress. While you’ll feel some small sinking because of the lavish foam top layers, the individually wrapped coils in the center will lift you out of the bed and make you feel as though you’re sleeping on top of this mattress.
Pressure Map
Rather than just explaining the feel of the DreamCloud for you, I chose to provide a visual representation of where somebody may feel pressure points form while lying on it. To do so, I put a pressure map on top of the mattress and lied on my back, side, and tummy. You can see the results on the image below where pressure is denoted from blue (low pressure) to red (high pressure).
Back – When on my backside, my weight was equally dispersed throughout the mattress, so I did not feel like I was sinking into the mattress in any way. The quilted cover provided quality relief at my lumbar area and the pocketed coils helped to lift me from the bed and keep my spine in alignment.
Side – As you can see in the chart above, once I rolled onto my side, I began to feel pressure forming at my hips and shoulders. But, I still felt supported and the top foam layers relieved what distress I felt in this position.
Stomach – Shifting over to my stomach, I thought that the DreamCloud did a fantastic job of lifting my hips upward and from the bed, which is key for stomach sleepers. I must mention that I was able to transition across these positions with relative ease.
Motion Transfer
If you intend on sharing your mattress with a partner, you will want to find out what it’ll feel like when another individual crawls out of bed in the break of dawn or tosses around at night. This next test is intended to demonstrate the high level of motion that is detectable from one side of the mattress from another. Dreamcloud Queen Bed
To illustrate this motion transfer, I dropped a 10 pound steel ball from heights of 4 inches, 8 inches and 12 inches and measured the disturbance it generated: the larger the lines, the bigger the disturbance.
The DreamCloud demonstrates a small amount of disturbance for the four inch drop, which simulates someone rolling around and adjusting their position on the other side of the bed. While the 8 and 12 inch drops reveal slightly larger spikes, I would still regard the mattress to be quite good at isolating motion, thanks to its individually wrapped coils. This means that you’re not likely to be too disturbed by your bed partner’s midnight shimmies, which makes this an awesome solution for couples.
Sinkage Test
While purchasing a new bed, most people wish to know whether they will feel like they’re sinking”into” the mattress or lying “on top” of it. To visualize this sinkage, I placed four balls of varying sizes and densities (a 6 lb medicine ball, a 10 pound steel ball, a 50 pound medicine ball, along with a 100 lb medicine ball) on the mattress and measured how much they compressed the surface.

– 6 lb medicine ball: 1.5 inches of sinkage.
– 10 lb steel ball: 2 inches of sinkage.
– 50 lb medicine ball: 4.5 inches of sinkage.
– 100 lb medicine ball: 5.5 inches of sinkage.
While you’re likely to encounter some immediate sinkage in the soft foam on top, by the time you sink through those layers, you are going to hit the wrapped coils and feel fantastic support. This combo will appeal to a wide assortment of sleepers, but will suit stomach and back sleepers the most.
Edge Support
If you’re going to share your bed with a spouse and need to utilize the whole surface area of the mattress, then it is going to be crucial that you think about the amount of edge support it’ll provide.

In this position, I wanted to simulate what it would feel like to be sitting on top of the bed in the morning when you are tying your shoes and getting ready for the day. A good deal of foam mattresses experience a lot of compression in this position, but the DreamCloud really held up fairly well.
