Firmness

At this point I want to note that people of different body shapes and types will sense firmness differently. As opposed to giving only my view on the general firmness level of this mattress, I enlisted three additional people to give their opinion as well. This will give you a much better feeling of the firmness range you may see from the mattress.
As you can find in the graph above, the testers were in agreement about the firmness of this mattress, giving it an average score of 7.75. Compare this to the market norm of 6.5 for medium firmness and it’s apparent that this mattress is really firm.
I personally gave the bed a 7.5 and concur with the rest of the testers that it is definitely a good mattress. At the same time you’ll feel some slight sinking because of the lavish foam top layers, the individually wrapped coils at the center will lift you from the mattress and make you feel as though you’re sleeping on top of this mattress.
Pressure Map
Rather than simply explaining the feel of this DreamCloud for you, I chose to provide a visual representation of where someone may feel pressure points form while lying on it. To do this, I put a pressure map on top of the bed and lied on my back, side, and stomach. You can see the outcomes on the picture below where pressure is represented from blue (low pressure) to red (high pressure).
Back – When on my back, my weight was equally distributed throughout the mattress, therefore I didn’t feel as though I was sinking into the mattress at all. The quilted cover provided quality relief in my lumbar area and the pocketed coils helped lift me out of the bed and keep my spine in alignment.
Side – As you can see in the graph above, once I rolled onto my side, I began to feel pressure forming in my shoulders and hips. But, I still felt supported and the top foam layers relieved what distress I felt in this position.
Stomach – Switching over to my belly, I thought the DreamCloud did a great job of lifting my hips upward and out of the bed, which is crucial for stomach sleepers. I should mention that I was able to transition across these positions with comparative ease.
Motion Transfer
If you plan on sharing your bed with a partner, you’ll want to find out what it will feel like if the other individual crawls out of bed in the break of dawn or tosses around at nighttime. To illustrate this motion transfer, I dropped a 10 lb steel ball from heights of 4 inches, 8 inches and 12 inches and quantified the disturbance it generated: the bigger the lines, the bigger the disturbance.
