Because it’s a hybrid mattress, the DreamCloud fulfills a number of our standards for what a excellent mattress must have. With 8 exceptional layers of support and comfort, the DreamCloud uses all the proper materials in its construction. Dreamcloud Mattress Opinion
From the tufted cashmere cover that gives great airflow, to the gel memory foam in the uppermost comfort layer, the DreamCloud was made to promote a cooler night’s sleep. Below that are a mixture of memory foam and latex layers, meaning this bed contains better quality comfort materials than most other hybrid beds.
Despite the fact that it uses multiple memory foam layers, there is not any hug or significant shaping to the bed. If you are searching to sink into a mattress, move on from the DreamCloud.
A pocketed coil support center keeps you aligned all night long, especially for all you back sleepers out there.

Construction Dreamcloud Mattress Opinion
The DreamCloud has a tall profile for a mattress at a humongous 15 inches. The eight-layer construction is broken down to foam and wrapped coil parts, which operate in tandem to provide the sleeper with a strong innerspring lift and plenty of comfy pressure relief.
Given all of the distinct materials at play here, I am stoked to dive into these layers to see how well they interact with one another. Dreamcloud Mattress Opinion
Cover – The cover is made up of a cashmere and polyester blend for a soft feel up top. Additionally, it is quilted with memory foam, which supplies the sleeper with immediate relaxation.
Foam Layers – Under the cover, you will find three thin layers of foam. While these sections are soft to the touch and supply some satisfying sinkage, they also react quickly to pressure, so you won’t feel stuck in the bed. The center of the three layers is especially essential for the temperature regulation of the DreamCloud as it’s made up of perforated latex foam. Latex in general is great at dissipating heat, so the addition of these tiny ventilations encourages even more cooling.
Pocketed Coils – The bottom layer of foam transitions into the firmer support segment of this mattress, which is made up of a pocketed coil system. These individually wrapped springs give the bed excellent bounce and help to disperse motion throughout the structure. The coils also assist in regulating temperatures as the spaces between them allow for steady air flow.
Foundation Layer – A thin layer of high-density polyfoam is found in the base of the mattress, with the major use of cradling the pocketed coils and offering a solid foundation for the whole mattress.
Firmness
After having a look at the construction of the DreamCloud, let us talk about the firmness and texture. I started off by applying light hand pressure to the mattress and immediately felt the soft foam of the quilted cover and top layers. My hand flowed into the material and I could feel some instant pressure relief. Pushing in farther, I began to interact with the pocketed coils below and experienced a nice lift from these springs.
Now I’d like to let you know that individuals of different body types and shapes will sense firmness differently. As opposed to giving just my view on the general firmness level of the DreamCloud, I invited three other individuals to present their opinion too. This will provide you with a better feeling of the firmness range you can see from the mattress.
As you can find in the chart above, the testers were pretty much in agreement about the stability of this mattress, giving it a mean rating of 7.75. Compared to the industry standard of 6.5 for moderate firmness and it is clear that this bed is really firm.
I personally gave the mattress a 7.5 and agree with the other testers that it’s definitely a solid bed. While you’ll feel some slight sinking from the plush foam top layers, the individually wrapped coils at the center will lift you from the bed and make you feel as though you’re sleeping on top of the mattress.
Pressure Map
As opposed to just describing the feel of this mattress to you, I wanted to provide a visual representation of where somebody may feel pressure points form while lying on it. To do so, I put a pressure map above the mattress and lied on my back, side, and tummy. You can see the outcomes on the image below where pressure is represented from blue (low pressure) to red (high pressure).
Back – When on my back, my weight was equally distributed throughout the mattress, so I did not feel like I was sinking into the bed at all. The quilted cover gave quality relief in my lumbar region and also the pocketed coils helped lift me from the bed and keep my back in alignment.
Side – As you can see in the graph above, once I rolled onto my side, I began to feel pressure forming in my hips and shoulders. But, I still felt supported while the top foam layers alleviated what discomfort I felt in this position.
Stomach – Shifting over to my belly, I thought that the DreamCloud did a great job of lifting my hips upward and from the bed, which is key for stomach sleepers. I should mention that I was able to transition across these positions with relative ease.
Motion Transfer
If you intend on sharing your bed with a partner, you’ll want to find out what it’ll feel like when another individual crawls out of bed in the morning or tosses around during the night. This next test is intended to demonstrate the high level of motion that is detectable from 1 side of the mattress to another. Dreamcloud Mattress Opinion
To show you this motion transfer, I dropped a 10 pound steel ball from heights of 4 inches, 8 inches and 12 inches and quantified the disturbance it caused: the bigger the lines, the larger the disturbance.
The DreamCloud shows a small amount of disturbance for the four inch drop, which simulates someone rolling around and adjusting their position on the opposite side of the mattress. While the 8 and 12 inch drops reveal slightly bigger spikes, I would still consider the mattress to be quite good at isolating movement, thanks to the individually wrapped coils. This indicates you’re unlikely to be too disturbed by your mattress partner’s midnight shimmies, making this a great option for couples.
Sinkage Test
When purchasing a new mattress, the majority of men and women want to know whether they will feel like they’re sinking”into” the mattress or laying “on top” of it. To picture this sinkage, I placed four balls of varying sizes and densities (a 6 pound medicine ball, a 10 pound steel ball, a 50 pound medicine ball, and a 100 lb medicine ball) on the mattress and quantified how much they compressed the surface.
The variations in size, density and weight are supposed to mimic different body parts and different sized sleepers. Dreamcloud Mattress Opinion
– 6 lb medicine ball: 1.5 inches of sinkage.
– 10 lb steel ball: 2 inches of sinkage.
– 50 lb medicine ball: 4.5 inches of sinkage.
– 100 lb medicine ball: 5.5 inches of sinkage.
While you’re likely to encounter some immediate sinkage from the soft foam at the top, by the time you sink through those layers, you are going to hit the wrapped coils and experience fantastic support. This combination will interest a vast assortment of sleepers, but will satisfy stomach and back sleepers in particular.
Edge Support
If you are going to share your mattress with a partner and will need to use the whole surface area of the mattress, it’s likely to be crucial that you think about the amount of edge support it’ll give you.
I am particularly interested to see whether the DreamCloud will endure the same fate as other compacted bed-in-a-box mattresses which fail to fulfill the edge support of more traditional innerspring versions.
Lying on my back, I felt as supported at the edge of the mattress as I did in the middle. Pressing closer to the side, I felt a bit of compression because of the top foam layers, but nothing too dramatic.
Shifting to my side, I noticed compression in the foam layers, but it didn’t carry over into the coil system beneath. This system, together with the polyfoam edge support round the mattress, did a good job of supporting my weight.
In this position, I wished to simulate what it would feel like to be sitting on the bed in the morning when you’re lacing up your shoes and getting ready for the day. A lot of foam mattresses undergo a lot of compression in this position, but the DreamCloud actually held up fairly well.
