Because it’s a hybrid mattress, the DreamCloud fulfills many of our criteria for what a quality bed must provide. With eight unique layers of support and comfort, the DreamCloud uses all of the proper materials in its construction. Dreamcloud Contact
From the tufted cashmere cover that provides good airflow, to the gel memory foam in the uppermost comfort layer, the DreamCloud is designed to promote a cooler night’s sleep. Below that are a mix of memory foam and latex layers, meaning this mattress contains better quality relaxation materials than most other hybrid mattresses.
Even though it utilizes multiple memory foam layers, there’s not any hug or significant shaping to the bed. If you are looking to sink into a mattress, proceed from the DreamCloud.

Construction Dreamcloud Contact
The DreamCloud has a tall profile for a mattress at a whopping 15 inches. The eight-layer structure is broken down into foam and wrapped coil components, which operate in tandem to supply the sleeper with a firm innerspring lift and plenty of comfy pressure relief.
Given all the distinct materials at play here, I am stoked to dive into these layers to understand how well they interact with one another. Dreamcloud Contact
Cover – The cover is composed of a cashmere and polyester blend for a luxuriously soft feel up top. It’s also quilted with memory foam, which supplies the sleeper with instant pressure relief.
Foam Layers – Below the cover, you’ll find three thin layers of foam. While these sections are soft to the touch and provide some satisfying sinkage, they also react quickly to pressure, so you won’t feel trapped in the mattress. The middle of these three layers is particularly important because of the temperature regulation of the DreamCloud as it’s made up of perforated latex foam. Latex in general is good at dissipating heat, so the inclusion of those tiny ventilations encourages even more cooling.
Pocketed Coils – The bottom layer of polyurethane transitions to the firmer support section of this mattress, which is composed of a pocketed coil system. These individually wrapped springs provide the mattress excellent bounce and help to disperse motion throughout the structure. The coils also assist in moderating temperatures as the spaces between them allow for steady air flow.
Foundation Layer – A thin layer of high-density polyfoam lies at the base of the mattress, with the main use of cradling the pocketed coils and offering a solid foundation for the entire mattress.
Firmness
After taking a look at the construction of the DreamCloud, let us talk about the firmness and feel. I started off by applying mild hand pressure into the mattress and instantly felt the soft foam of the quilted cover and first layers. My hands flowed into the material and I could sense some instant pressure relief. Pushing in further, I started to interact with the pocketed coils below and experienced a pleasant lift from these springs.
Now I want to let you know that individuals of different body types and shapes will feel firmness differently. As opposed to giving just my opinion on the general firmness level of this DreamCloud, I enlisted three other individuals to present their opinion too. This will provide you with a much better feeling of the firmness range you can expect from the bed.
As you can find in the graph above, the testers were in agreement about the firmness of this mattress, giving it an average score of 7.75. Compared to the market standard of 6.5 for moderate firmness and it is apparent that this mattress is pretty firm.
I personally gave the bed a 7.5 and agree with the rest of the testers that it’s definitely a good bed. While you’ll feel some slight sinking because of the plush foam top layers, the individually wrapped coils at the core will lift you from the bed and make you feel like you’re sleeping on top of the mattress.
Pressure Map
As opposed to simply describing the feel of this mattress for you, I chose to provide a visual representation of where somebody may feel pressure points form while lying on it. To do so, I put a pressure map above the bed and lied on my backside, and stomach. You can see the results on the picture below where pressure is represented from blue (low pressure) to red (high pressure).
Back – Once on my backside, my weight was evenly distributed throughout the mattress, so I didn’t feel like I was sinking into the mattress in any way. The quilted cover provided quality relief in my lumbar area and the pocketed coils helped to lift me from the mattress and keep my spine in alignment.
Side – As you can see in the chart above, after I rolled onto my side, I started to feel pressure forming at my shoulders and hips. But, I felt supported while the top foam layers alleviated what distress I felt in this position.
Stomach – Shifting over to my belly, I believed the DreamCloud did a fantastic job of lifting my hips upward and from the mattress, which can be crucial for stomach sleepers. I should mention that I was able to shift across these positions with comparative ease.
Motion Transfer
If you plan on sharing your mattress with a spouse, you will want to know what it’ll feel like when the other person crawls out of bed in the morning or tosses around at night. This next test is meant to demonstrate the high level of motion that is detectable from one side of the mattress from another. Dreamcloud Contact
To illustrate this motion transfer, I dropped a 10 pound steel ball from heights of 4 inches, 8 inches and 12 inches and then measured the disturbance it caused: the bigger the lines, the bigger the disturbance.
The DreamCloud demonstrates a small amount of disturbance for the four inch drop, which simulates somebody tossing around and adjusting their position on the other side of the bed. While the 8 and 12 inch drops reveal slightly larger spikes, I’d still regard the mattress to be pretty good at isolating movement, thanks to its individually wrapped coils. This indicates you’re not likely to be overly disturbed by your bed partner’s midnight shimmies, making this a great solution for couples.
Sinkage Test
When buying a new bed, most people want to know whether they will feel as though they’re sinking”into” the mattress or lying “on top” of it. To picture this sinkage, I put four balls of varying sizes and densities (a 6 pound medicine ball, a 10 pound steel ball, a 50 pound medicine ball, along with a 100 pound medicine ball) on the mattress then measured how much they compacted the top.
The variations in size, density and weight are supposed to mimic distinct body parts and different sized sleepers. Dreamcloud Contact
– 6 lb medicine ball: 1.5 inches of sinkage.
– 10 lb steel ball: 2 inches of sinkage.
– 50 lb medicine ball: 4.5 inches of sinkage.
– 100 lb medicine ball: 5.5 inches of sinkage.
Even though you’re going to experience some instant sinkage in the soft foam on top, by the time you sink through these layers, you are going to hit the wrapped coils and experience fantastic support. This combination will interest a vast assortment of sleepers, but will satisfy stomach and back sleepers the most.
Edge Support
If you are going to share your mattress with a spouse and need to use the whole surface area of the mattress, then it’s likely to be crucial for you to think about the amount of edge support it’ll give you.
I am especially interested to see whether the DreamCloud will endure the same fate as other compacted bed-in-a-box mattresses which fail to live up to the edge support of more traditional innerspring versions.
Laying on my back, I felt just as supported at the edge of the bed as I did at the middle. Going closer to the side, I experienced a bit of compression due to the top foam layers, but nothing too dramatic.
Shifting to my side, I once again noticed compression in the foam layers, but it did not carry over into the wrapped coil system under. This system, along with the polyfoam edge support around the mattress, did a good job of supporting my weight.
In this position, I wanted to simulate what it’d feel like to be sitting on top of the mattress in the morning when you’re lacing up your shoes and getting ready for work. A good deal of foam mattresses experience severe compression in this position, but the DreamCloud really held up fairly good.
