Because it’s a hybrid mattress, the DreamCloud fulfills many of our standards for what a excellent bed should have. With 8 unique layers of support and comfort, the DreamCloud uses all of the proper materials in its construction. Dream Cloud Dreams
From the tufted cashmere cover that provides great airflow, to the gel memory foam at the uppermost comfort layer, the DreamCloud was made to promote a cooler night’s sleep. Below that are a mixture of polyurethane foam and latex layers, meaning this bed includes better quality relaxation materials than most other hybrid mattresses.
Even though it utilizes multiple memory foam layers, there’s no hug or significant shaping to the bed. If you are looking to sink into a mattress, then proceed from the DreamCloud.
A pocketed coil support center keeps you aligned all night long, especially for all you back sleepers out there.

Construction Dream Cloud Dreams
The DreamCloud has a tall profile for a mattress at a whopping 15 inches. The eight-layer structure is broken down into foam and wrapped coil parts, which operate in tandem to supply the sleeper with a strong innerspring lift and plenty of comfortable pressure relief.
Given all the distinct materials at play , I’m stoked to get into these layers to see how well they interact with one another. Dream Cloud Dreams
Cover – The cover is made up of a cashmere and polyester blend for a soft feel up top. Additionally, it is quilted with memory foam, which supplies the sleeper with instant relaxation.
Foam Layers – Under the cover, you’ll find three thin layers of foam. While these segments are soft to the touch and supply some satisfying sinkage, they also react quickly to pressure, so you won’t feel stuck in the bed. The center of these three layers is particularly essential for the temperature regulation of the DreamCloud as it is comprised of perforated latex foam. Latex generally is good at releasing heat, so the inclusion of those tiny ventilations promotes more cooling.
Pocketed Coils – The bottom layer of polyurethane transitions into the firmer support section of the mattress, which is composed of a pocketed coil system. These individually wrapped springs provide the mattress excellent rebound and assist to disperse motion throughout the structure. The coils also aid in moderating temperatures as the distances between them allow for steady air flow.
Foundation Layer – A thin layer of high-density polyfoam lies at the bottom of the mattress, with the major function of cradling the pocketed coils and providing a solid foundation for the whole mattress.
Firmness
After taking a look at the construction of the DreamCloud, let’s chat about the firmness and feel. I started off by applying mild hand pressure to the bed and immediately felt the soft foam of the quilted cover and first layers. My hand sunk into the material and I could feel some instantaneous pressure relief. Pushing in further, I began to interact with the pocketed coils beneath and experienced a pleasant lift from the springs.
At this point I’d like to let you know that individuals of different body types and shapes will feel firmness differently. Rather than giving only my opinion on the overall firmness level of the mattress, I enlisted three additional people to present their view as well. This will provide you with a much better feeling of the firmness range you may see from the mattress.
As you can see in the graph above, the testers were pretty much in agreement about the stability of this mattress, giving it an average rating of 7.75. Compared to the market norm of 6.5 for moderate firmness and it is clear that this bed is pretty firm.
Personally, I gave the mattress a 7.5 and agree with the rest of the testers that it’s definitely a solid bed. At the same time you’ll feel some small sinking because of the lavish foam top layers, the individually wrapped coils in the center will lift you from the bed and make you feel like you’re sleeping on top of this mattress.
Pressure Map
Rather than just explaining the feel of this DreamCloud to you, I chose to give a visual representation of where somebody may feel pressure points shape while lying on the mattress. To do so, I put a pressure map above the bed and lied on my backside, and tummy. You can find the results on the image below where pressure is denoted from blue (low pressure) to red (high pressure).
Back – When on my backside, my weight was evenly distributed across the mattress, therefore I did not feel like I was sinking into the bed in any way. The quilted cover gave quality relief in my lumbar area and also the pocketed coils helped lift me out of the mattress and keep my spine in alignment.
Side – As you can see in the graph above, after I rolled onto my side, I started to feel pressure forming at my hips and shoulders. But, I felt supported and the top foam layers relieved what discomfort I felt in this position.
Stomach – Switching over to my belly, I thought the DreamCloud did a fantastic job of lifting my hips upward and from the mattress, which is crucial for stomach sleepers. I should mention that I managed to transition across these positions with comparative ease.
Motion Transfer
If you intend on sharing your mattress with a spouse, you will want to find out what it will feel like if the other individual crawls out of bed in the morning or tosses around during the night. This next test is intended to demonstrate the high level of movement that is detectable from 1 side of the mattress from the other. Dream Cloud Dreams
To show you this motion transfer, I dropped a 10 lb steel ball from heights of 4 inches, 8 inches and 12 inches and then quantified the disturbance it generated: the bigger the lines, the larger the disturbance.
The DreamCloud shows a small amount of disturbance for the 4 inch drop, which simulates somebody tossing around and adjusting their position on the other side of the bed. While the 8 and 12 inch drops show slightly bigger spikes, I’d still consider the mattress to be quite good at isolating motion, thanks to the individually wrapped coils. This means you’re not likely to be too disturbed by your bed mate’s midnight shimmies, making this an awesome solution for couples.
Sinkage Test
While purchasing a new bed, most men and women wish to know whether they’ll feel as though they’re sinking”into” the bed or lying “on top” of it. To visualize this sinkage, I placed four balls of different sizes and densities (a 6 pound medicine ball, a 10 lb steel ball, a 50 lb medicine ball, along with a 100 lb medicine ball) on the mattress and quantified how much they compacted the top.
The variations in size, density and weight are supposed to simulate distinct body parts and different sized sleepers. Dream Cloud Dreams
– 6 lb medicine ball: 1.5 inches of sinkage.
– 10 lb steel ball: 2 inches of sinkage.
– 50 lb medicine ball: 4.5 inches of sinkage.
– 100 lb medicine ball: 5.5 inches of sinkage.
Even though you’re likely to encounter some instant sinkage from the soft foam on top, by the time you sink through those layers, you are going to find the wrapped coils and feel fantastic support. This combination will interest a vast assortment of sleepers, but will suit stomach and back sleepers the most.
Edge Support
If you’re going to share your bed with a partner and will need to use the entire surface area of the mattress, it’s likely to be crucial that you consider the amount of edge support it’ll give you.
I am particularly interested to determine whether the DreamCloud will suffer the same fate as other compressed bed-in-a-box mattresses that fail to fulfill the edge support of more traditional innerspring models.
Laying on my back, I felt as supported in the edge of the mattress as I did in the middle. Pressing closer to the side, I experienced a little compression due to the highest foam layers, but nothing overly dramatic.
Shifting to my side, I noticed compression in the foam layers, but it didn’t carry over into the coil system beneath. This system, together with the polyfoam edge support around the mattress, did a great job of supporting my weight.
In this position, I wished to simulate what it would feel like to be sitting on the mattress in the morning when you’re tying your shoes and getting ready for work. A good deal of foam mattresses experience a lot of compression in this position, but the DreamCloud actually held up fairly well.
