As a hybrid mattress, the DreamCloud fulfills a number of our standards for what a quality mattress must have. With eight unique layers of comfort and support, the DreamCloud uses all of the right materials in its construction. Dream Cloud Issues
From the tufted cashmere cover that gives great airflow, to the gel memory foam at the uppermost comfort layer, the DreamCloud is designed to promote a cooler night’s sleep. Below that are a mix of polyurethane foam and latex layers, meaning this bed contains better quality comfort materials than most other hybrid mattresses.
Despite the fact that it uses multiple memory foam layers, there is not any hug or significant shaping to the bed. If you’re searching to sink into a mattress, proceed from the DreamCloud.
A pocketed coil support core keeps you aligned all night long, especially for all you back sleepers on the market.

Construction Dream Cloud Issues
The DreamCloud has an astoundingly tall profile for a mattress at a whopping 15 inches. The eight-layer construction is broken down to foam and wrapped coil parts, which operate in tandem to provide the sleeper with a strong innerspring lift and lots of comfortable pressure relief.
Given all the distinct materials at play , I am stoked to dive into these layers to understand how well they interact with one another. Dream Cloud Issues
Cover – The cover is composed of a cashmere and polyester mix for a luxuriously soft feel up top. It’s also built with memory foam, which supplies the sleeper with instant relaxation.
Foam Layers – Under the cover, you’ll find three thin layers of polyurethane. While these segments are soft to the touch and provide some satisfying sinkage, they also respond quickly to pressure, so you won’t feel stuck in the mattress. The middle of these three layers is especially essential for the temperature regulation of the DreamCloud as it’s comprised of perforated latex foam. Latex in general is good at releasing heat, so the inclusion of those small ventilations promotes more cooling.
Pocketed Coils – The base layer of foam transitions to the firmer support segment of the mattress, which is composed of a pocketed coil system. These individually wrapped springs give the mattress excellent rebound and assist disperse motion throughout the mattress. The coils also assist in moderating temperature as the spaces between them permit steady air flow.
Foundation Layer – A thin layer of high-density polyfoam lies at the base of the mattress, with the major function of cradling the pocketed coils and providing a sound foundation for the entire mattress.
Firmness
After having a peek at the construction of the DreamCloud, let us talk about the firmness and feel. I started off by putting mild hand pressure into the bed and instantly felt the soft foam of the quilted cover and first layers. My hands sunk into the material and I could feel some instantaneous pressure relief. Pushing in farther, I began to interact with all the pocketed coils below and experienced a pleasant lift from the springs.
Now I’d like to let you know that people of different body shapes and types will sense firmness differently. As opposed to giving only my view on the general firmness level of this mattress, I invited three additional individuals to give their opinion as well. This will provide you with a much better sense of the firmness range you can see from the bed.
As you can find in the chart above, the testers were in agreement about the firmness of the DreamCloud, giving it a mean score of 7.75. Compare this to the industry standard of 6.5 for medium firmness and it is clear that this mattress is pretty firm.
I personally gave the bed a 7.5 and agree with the rest of the testers that it’s definitely a good mattress. At the same time you’ll feel some slight sinking because of the plush foam top layers, the individually wrapped coils at the center will lift you from this bed and make you feel as though you’re sleeping on top of the mattress.
Pressure Map
As opposed to simply describing the feel of the DreamCloud for you, I chose to provide a visual representation of where someone may feel pressure points form while lying on the mattress. To do so, I placed a pressure map above the bed and lied on my backside, and tummy. You can see the outcomes on the image below where pressure is denoted from blue (low pressure) to red (high pressure).
Back – Once on my backside, my weight was equally distributed across the mattress, therefore I didn’t feel as though I was sinking into the mattress at all. The quilted cover provided quality relief in my lumbar area and the pocketed coils helped lift me out of the mattress and keep my spine in alignment.
Side – As you can see in the chart above, once I rolled onto my side, I started to feel pressure forming in my shoulders and hips. However, I still felt supported and the top foam layers alleviated what discomfort I felt in this position.
Stomach – Switching over to my belly, I thought the DreamCloud did a fantastic job of lifting my hips upward and out of the bed, which is crucial for stomach sleepers. I must mention that I managed to shift across these positions with relative ease.
Motion Transfer
If you plan on sharing your mattress with a partner, you’ll want to find out what it will feel like if another individual crawls out of bed in the break of dawn or tosses around at night. This next test is meant to demonstrate the high level of motion that is detectable from 1 side of the mattress to another. Dream Cloud Issues
To illustrate this motion transfer, I dropped a 10 lb steel ball from heights of 4 inches, 8 inches and 12 inches and measured the disturbance it generated: the bigger the lines, the bigger the disturbance.
The DreamCloud demonstrates a small amount of disturbance for the four inch drop, which simulates somebody rolling around and adjusting their position on the opposite side of the mattress. While the 8 and 12 inch drops reveal slightly larger spikes, I’d still regard the mattress to be quite good at isolating motion, as a result of its individually wrapped coils. This indicates that you’re unlikely to be too disturbed by your bed partner’s midnight shimmies, making this an awesome option for couples.
Sinkage Test
When purchasing a new mattress, most people wish to know whether they’ll feel like they’re sinking”into” the mattress or lying “on top” of it. To picture this sinkage, I placed 4 balls of different sizes and densities (a 6 lb medicine ball, a 10 lb steel ball, a 50 lb medicine ball, along with a 100 lb medicine ball) on the mattress and quantified how much they compacted the top.
The variations in size, density and weight are meant to simulate distinct body parts and different sized sleepers. Dream Cloud Issues
– 6 lb medicine ball: 1.5 inches of sinkage.
– 10 lb steel ball: 2 inches of sinkage.
– 50 lb medicine ball: 4.5 inches of sinkage.
– 100 lb medicine ball: 5.5 inches of sinkage.
While you’re going to experience some instant sinkage from the soft foam on top, by the time you sink through these layers, you’ll hit the wrapped coils and experience amazing support. This combo will appeal to a wide range of sleepers, but will suit back and stomach sleepers in particular.
Edge Support
If you’re going to share your bed with a partner and need to use the whole surface area of the mattress, then it’s likely to be crucial for you to consider the amount of edge support it’ll give you.
I am especially interested to determine if the DreamCloud will endure the same fate as other compressed bed-in-a-box mattresses that fail to fulfill the edge support of more traditional innerspring versions.
Laying on my back, I felt just as supported at the edge of the mattress as I did at the middle. Pressing closer to the side, I felt a little compression because of the highest foam layers, but nothing too dramatic.
Changing to my side, I once again noticed compression in the foam layers, but it did not carry over to the wrapped coil system under. This system, along with the polyfoam edge support around the mattress, did a great job of supporting my weight.
In this position, I wished to simulate what it would feel like to be sitting on top of the bed in the morning when you are tying your shoes and getting ready for the day. A lot of foam mattresses experience severe compression in this position, but the DreamCloud actually held up fairly good.
