Because it’s a hybrid mattress, the DreamCloud fulfills a number of our standards for what a quality bed should have. With eight unique layers of support and comfort, the DreamCloud utilizes all of the right materials in its construction. Dreamcloud and Nectar Same Company
From the tufted cashmere cover that gives good airflow, to the gel memory foam in the uppermost comfort layer, the DreamCloud was made to promote a cooler night’s sleep. Resting below are a mix of polyurethane foam and latex layers, meaning this bed contains better quality relaxation materials than most other hybrid mattresses.
Despite the fact that it uses multiple memory foam layers, there’s not any hug or significant shaping to the bed. If you are looking to sink into a mattress, then move on from the DreamCloud.

Construction Dreamcloud and Nectar Same Company
The DreamCloud has an astoundingly tall profile for a mattress at a humongous 15 inches. The eight-layer structure is broken down to foam and wrapped coil parts, which work in tandem to supply the sleeper with a firm innerspring lift and plenty of comfortable pressure relief.
Given all the distinct materials at play here, I’m stoked to dive into these layers to understand how well they interact with one another. Dreamcloud and Nectar Same Company
Cover – The cover is made up of a cashmere and polyester mix for a luxuriously soft feel up top. It’s also quilted with memory foam, which supplies the sleeper with instant pressure relief.
Foam Layers – Under the cover, you’ll discover three thin layers of polyurethane. While these segments are soft to the touch and supply some pleasing sinkage, they also respond quickly to pressure, so you won’t feel stuck in the mattress. The center of the three layers is especially essential because of the temperature regulation of the DreamCloud as it is made up of perforated latex foam. Latex generally is great at dissipating heat, so the addition of these small ventilations promotes more cooling.
Pocketed Coils – The base layer of foam transitions to the firmer support section of this mattress, which is made up of a pocketed coil system. These individually wrapped springs give the mattress excellent rebound and assist to disperse motion throughout the mattress. The coils also assist in regulating temperature as the distances between them permit continuous air flow.
Foundation Layer – A thin layer of high-density polyfoam lies in the bottom of the mattress, with the main function of cradling the pocketed coils and providing a solid foundation for the entire mattress.
Firmness
After having a peek at the construction of the DreamCloud, let’s chat about the firmness and texture. I started off by applying light hand pressure to the mattress and instantly felt the soft foam of the quilted cover and top layers. My hand sunk into the material and I could feel some instant pressure relief. Pushing in farther, I started to interact with all the pocketed coils beneath and experienced a pleasant lift from the springs.
At this point I’d like to let you know that people of different body types and shapes will feel firmness differently. As opposed to giving just my view on the general firmness level of this DreamCloud, I invited three other people to give their opinion too. This will provide you with a better feeling of the firmness range you can see from the mattress.
As you can find in the chart above, the testers were in agreement about the firmness of the DreamCloud, giving it an average rating of 7.75. Compare this to the industry standard of 6.5 for medium firmness and it is clear that this mattress is pretty firm.
I personally gave the mattress a 7.5 and concur with the other testers that it’s definitely a good mattress. At the same time you’ll feel some small sinking because of the lavish foam top layers, the individually wrapped coils at the center will lift you out of the mattress and make you feel like you’re sleeping on top of this mattress.
Pressure Map
As opposed to just explaining the feel of this DreamCloud to you, I chose to provide a visual representation of where someone may feel pressure points form while lying on it. To do so, I put a pressure map above the bed and lied on my back, side, and tummy. You can see the results on the picture below where pressure is represented from blue (low pressure) to red (high pressure).
Back – Once on my backside, my weight was evenly dispersed throughout the mattress, therefore I didn’t feel as though I was sinking into the mattress at all. The quilted cover gave quality relief in my lumbar region and also the pocketed coils helped lift me out of the bed and keep my spine in alignment.
Side – As you can see in the graph above, after I rolled onto my side, I started to feel pressure forming at my hips and shoulders. However, I still felt supported and the top foam layers alleviated what discomfort I felt in this position.
Stomach – Switching over to my stomach, I thought that the DreamCloud did a fantastic job of lifting my hips up and out of the mattress, which is key for stomach sleepers. I should mention that I managed to transition across these positions with relative ease.
Motion Transfer
If you intend on sharing your bed with a partner, you will want to know what it will feel like if another individual crawls out of bed in the break of dawn or tosses around during the nighttime. This next test is intended to demonstrate the intensity of movement that is detectable from one side of the mattress from the other. Dreamcloud and Nectar Same Company
To show you this motion transfer, I dropped a 10 pound steel ball from heights of 4 inches, 8 inches and 12 inches and quantified the disturbance it generated: the larger the lines, the bigger the disturbance.
The DreamCloud demonstrates a small amount of disturbance for the 4 inch drop, which simulates somebody rolling around and adjusting their position on the other side of the mattress. While the 8 and 12 inch drops reveal slightly bigger spikes, I’d still regard the mattress to be pretty good at isolating movement, thanks to its individually wrapped coils. This means you’re not likely to be overly disturbed by your bed partner’s midnight shimmies, making this a great solution for couples.
Sinkage Test
While buying a new bed, the majority of people wish to know whether they will feel as though they’re sinking”into” the mattress or lying “on top” of it. To picture this sinkage, I put 4 balls of varying sizes and densities (a 6 lb medicine ball, a 10 pound steel ball, a 50 lb medicine ball, along with a 100 pound medicine ball) on the mattress then quantified how much they compressed the surface.
The variations in size, weight and density are meant to mimic different body parts and different sized sleepers. Dreamcloud and Nectar Same Company
– 6 lb medicine ball: 1.5 inches of sinkage.
– 10 lb steel ball: 2 inches of sinkage.
– 50 lb medicine ball: 4.5 inches of sinkage.
– 100 lb medicine ball: 5.5 inches of sinkage.
Even though you’re likely to encounter some instant sinkage from the soft foam on top, by the time you sink through these layers, you’ll find the wrapped coils and experience amazing support. This combination will interest a vast assortment of sleepers, but will suit stomach and back sleepers the most.
Edge Support
If you are going to share your bed with a spouse and need to utilize the whole surface area of the mattress, it is likely to be crucial that you consider the amount of edge support it’ll provide.
I’m particularly interested to see whether the DreamCloud will suffer the exact same fate as other compacted bed-in-a-box mattresses which fail to live up to the edge support of more traditional innerspring versions.
Laying on my back, I felt just as supported in the edge of the bed as I did at the middle. Going closer to the side, I felt a bit of compression due to the highest foam layers, but nothing too dramatic.
Shifting to my side, I noticed compression in the foam layers, but it didn’t carry over into the wrapped coil system below. This system, together with the polyfoam edge support round the mattress, did a good job of supporting my body.
In this position, I wished to simulate what it would feel like to be sitting on top of the mattress in the morning when you are lacing up your shoes and getting ready for the day. A lot of foam mattresses undergo severe compression in this position, but the DreamCloud really held up fairly well.
