As a hybrid mattress, the DreamCloud fulfills a number of our criteria for what a excellent mattress should provide. With eight unique layers of support and comfort, the DreamCloud utilizes all of the proper materials in its construction. Dreamcloud House
From the tufted cashmere cover that provides great airflow, to the gel memory foam in the uppermost comfort layer, the DreamCloud was made to deliver a cooler night’s sleep. Below that are a mix of polyurethane foam and latex layers, meaning this bed contains better quality relaxation materials than most other hybrid mattresses.
Despite the fact that it utilizes multiple memory foam layers, there’s not any hug or significant contouring to the mattress. If you’re searching to sink into a mattress, proceed from the DreamCloud.
A pocketed coil support core keeps you aligned all night long, especially for all you back sleepers out there.

Construction Dreamcloud House
The DreamCloud features a tall profile for a mattress at a humongous 15 inches. The eight-layer construction is broken down to foam and wrapped coil parts, which work in tandem to provide the sleeper with a firm innerspring lift and plenty of comfortable pressure relief.
Given all of the different materials at play , I am stoked to dive into these layers to understand how well they interact with one another. Dreamcloud House
Cover – The cover is made up of a cashmere and polyester blend for a luxuriously soft texture up top. It’s also quilted with memory foam, which supplies the sleeper with immediate pressure relief.
Foam Layers – Below the cover, you’ll find three thin layers of foam. While these sections are soft to the touch and supply some satisfying sinkage, they also react quickly to pressure, so that you won’t feel trapped in the mattress. The middle of the three layers is particularly important because of the temperature regulation of the DreamCloud as it’s made up of perforated latex foam. Latex in general is great at releasing heat, so the addition of those tiny ventilations promotes even more cooling.
Pocketed Coils – The base layer of foam transitions to the firmer support section of this mattress, which is made up of a pocketed coil system. These individually wrapped springs provide the mattress excellent bounce and help disperse motion throughout the structure. The coils also assist in regulating temperature as the distances between them permit continuous air flow.
Foundation Layer – A thin layer of high-density polyfoam is found in the bottom of the mattress, with the major function of cradling the pocketed coils and providing a solid foundation for the entire mattress.
Firmness
After having a peek at the construction of the DreamCloud, let us talk about the firmness and feel. I started off by putting light hand pressure to the bed and instantly felt the soft foam of the quilted cover and first layers. My hands flowed into the material and I could sense some instantaneous pressure relief. Pushing in further, I began to interact with all the pocketed coils beneath and experienced a nice lift from these springs.
At this point I’d like to note that people of different body shapes and types will feel firmness differently. Rather than giving only my view on the overall firmness level of this mattress, I invited three other people to present their opinion as well. This will give you a much better sense of the firmness range you may expect from the bed.
As you can find in the graph above, the testers were in agreement about the firmness of the mattress, giving it an average score of 7.75. Compare this to the market norm of 6.5 for moderate firmness and it’s clear that this mattress is pretty firm.
I personally gave the mattress a 7.5 and agree with the rest of the testers that it’s definitely a good mattress. While you’ll feel some slight sinking from the plush foam top layers, the individually wrapped coils in the core will lift you out of the mattress and make you feel like you’re sleeping on top of the mattress.
Pressure Map
Rather than simply describing the feel of the DreamCloud for you, I wanted to provide a visual representation of where someone may feel pressure points form while lying on it. To do so, I put a pressure map on top of the mattress and lied on my back, side, and stomach. You can see the outcomes on the picture below where pressure is denoted from blue (low pressure) to red (high pressure).
Back – Once on my backside, my weight was evenly distributed throughout the mattress, therefore I did not feel like I was sinking into the bed at all. The quilted cover provided quality relief at my lumbar area and the pocketed coils helped to lift me out of the mattress and keep my back in alignment.
Side – As you can see in the graph above, after I rolled onto my side, I began to feel pressure forming at my shoulders and hips. However, I still felt supported while the top foam layers alleviated what distress I felt in this position.
Stomach – Shifting over to my belly, I believed the DreamCloud did a fantastic job of lifting my hips upward and out of the bed, which can be key for stomach sleepers. I should mention that I was able to transition across these positions with comparative ease.
Motion Transfer
If you plan on sharing your mattress with a spouse, you’ll want to know what it’ll feel like if another person crawls out of bed in the morning or tosses around during the nighttime. This next test is intended to demonstrate the intensity of movement that is detectable from one side of the mattress to the other. Dreamcloud House
To show you this motion transfer, I dropped a 10 pound steel ball from heights of 4 inches, 8 inches and 12 inches and quantified the disturbance it caused: the larger the lines, the bigger the disturbance.
The DreamCloud demonstrates a small amount of disturbance for the 4 inch drop, which simulates someone tossing around and adjusting their position on the opposite side of the mattress. While the 8 and 12 inch drops reveal slightly bigger spikes, I would still consider the mattress to be pretty good at isolating movement, as a result of the individually wrapped coils. This means that you’re unlikely to be overly disturbed by your mattress mate’s midnight shimmies, which makes this a great solution for couples.
Sinkage Test
When purchasing a new bed, the majority of men and women want to know whether they will feel as though they’re sinking”into” the bed or laying “on top” of it. To visualize this sinkage, I placed 4 balls of varying sizes and densities (a 6 lb medicine ball, a 10 pound steel ball, a 50 lb medicine ball, and a 100 pound medicine ball) on the mattress then measured how much they compressed the surface.
The variations in size, density and weight are supposed to simulate different body parts and different sized sleepers. Dreamcloud House
– 6 lb medicine ball: 1.5 inches of sinkage.
– 10 lb steel ball: 2 inches of sinkage.
– 50 lb medicine ball: 4.5 inches of sinkage.
– 100 lb medicine ball: 5.5 inches of sinkage.
Even though you’re likely to experience some immediate sinkage in the soft foam at the top, by the time you sink through those layers, you are going to hit the wrapped coils and experience fantastic support. This combo will interest a wide range of sleepers, but will satisfy back and stomach sleepers in particular.
Edge Support
If you’re going to share your bed with a spouse and will need to utilize the entire surface area of the mattress, it is going to be crucial that you think about the amount of edge support it will give you.
I am particularly interested to see whether the DreamCloud will suffer the same fate as other compressed bed-in-a-box mattresses which fail to fulfill the edge support of more traditional innerspring models.
Laying on my back, I felt just as supported at the edge of the bed as I did in the center. Pressing closer to the side, I felt a little compression due to the top foam layers, but nothing too dramatic.
Shifting to my side, I once again noticed compression in the foam layers, but it did not carry over to the wrapped coil system beneath. This system, together with the polyfoam edge support round the mattress, did a good job of supporting my body.
In this position, I wished to simulate what it’d feel like to be sitting on top of the mattress in the morning when you’re tying your shoes and getting ready for the day. A lot of foam mattresses undergo severe compression in this position, but the DreamCloud really held up fairly good.
