Because it’s a hybrid mattress, the DreamCloud meets many of our standards for what a excellent bed must provide. With eight unique layers of comfort and support, the DreamCloud uses all the right materials in its construction. Dreamcloud Mattress Review Non Biased
From the tufted cashmere cover that provides good airflow, to the gel memory foam at the uppermost comfort layer, the DreamCloud is designed to deliver a cooler night’s sleep. Resting below are a mixture of memory foam and latex layers, meaning this bed contains better quality comfort materials than most other hybrid mattresses.
Even though it utilizes multiple memory foam layers, there is not any hug or significant shaping to the mattress. If you’re searching to sink into a mattress, move on from the DreamCloud.
A pocketed coil support center keeps you aligned all night long, especially so for all you back sleepers on the market.

Construction Dreamcloud Mattress Review Non Biased
The DreamCloud has a tall profile for a mattress at a whopping 15 inches. The eight-layer construction is broken down into foam and wrapped coil parts, which operate in tandem to provide the sleeper with a firm innerspring lift and plenty of comfortable pressure relief.
Given all the different materials at play , I am stoked to get into these layers to understand how well they interact together. Dreamcloud Mattress Review Non Biased
Cover – The cover is made up of a cashmere and polyester mix for a soft feel up top. It’s also built with memory foam, which provides the sleeper with immediate pressure relief.
Foam Layers – Below the cover, you’ll discover three thin layers of polyurethane. While these sections are soft to the touch and supply some pleasing sinkage, they also react quickly to pressure, so you won’t feel stuck in the mattress. The center of the three layers is especially important because of the temperature regulation of the DreamCloud as it is made up of perforated latex foam. Latex generally is good at releasing heat, so the addition of these tiny ventilations promotes even more cooling.
Pocketed Coils – The bottom layer of foam transitions to the firmer support section of this mattress, which is composed of a pocketed coil system. These individually wrapped springs provide the bed excellent bounce and help disperse motion throughout the structure. The coils also aid in moderating temperature as the spaces between them permit steady air flow.
Foundation Layer – A thin layer of high-density polyfoam lies in the bottom of the mattress, with the main function of cradling the pocketed coils and offering a solid foundation for the whole mattress.
Firmness
After taking a look at the construction of the DreamCloud, let us talk about the firmness and texture. I started off by applying mild hand pressure into the bed and instantly felt the soft foam of the quilted cover and first layers. My hand sunk into the material and I could sense some instantaneous pressure relief. Pushing in farther, I began to interact with the pocketed coils beneath and experienced a nice lift from these springs.
At this point I want to note that people of different body shapes and types will sense firmness differently. As opposed to giving just my opinion on the general firmness level of this mattress, I enlisted three other individuals to present their opinion as well. This will give you a better feeling of the firmness range you can see from the mattress.
As you can find in the chart above, the testers were in agreement about the firmness of the DreamCloud, giving it an average score of 7.75. Compare this to the industry norm of 6.5 for moderate firmness and it’s apparent that this bed is pretty firm.
Personally, I gave the mattress a 7.5 and agree with the other testers that it is definitely a good bed. At the same time you’ll feel some slight sinking from the plush foam top layers, the individually wrapped coils at the center will lift you out of the mattress and make you feel like you’re sleeping on top of this mattress.
Pressure Map
As opposed to just describing the feel of the mattress for you, I chose to provide a visual representation of where somebody may feel pressure points shape while lying on the mattress. To do so, I put a pressure map above the mattress and lied on my backside, and tummy. You can see the results on the image below where pressure is denoted from blue (low pressure) to red (high pressure).
Back – Once on my backside, my weight was evenly distributed across the mattress, so I didn’t feel as though I was sinking into the mattress at all. The quilted cover provided quality relief at my lumbar area and the pocketed coils helped lift me out of the mattress and keep my back in alignment.
Side – As you can see in the graph above, once I rolled onto my side, I began to feel pressure forming in my hips and shoulders. However, I still felt supported and the top foam layers relieved what discomfort I felt in this position.
Stomach – Switching over to my stomach, I thought that the DreamCloud did a great job of lifting my hips up and out of the mattress, which can be crucial for stomach sleepers. I must mention that I managed to shift across these positions with relative ease.
Motion Transfer
If you plan on sharing your mattress with a spouse, you’ll want to know what it will feel like if the other individual crawls out of bed in the break of dawn or tosses around during the night. This next test is meant to demonstrate the high level of movement that’s detectable from one side of the mattress to another. Dreamcloud Mattress Review Non Biased
To illustrate this motion transfer, I dropped a 10 lb steel ball from heights of 4 inches, 8 inches and 12 inches and then quantified the disturbance it generated: the larger the lines, the larger the disturbance.
The DreamCloud shows a small amount of disturbance for the four inch drop, which simulates somebody tossing around and adjusting their position on the opposite side of the mattress. While the 8 and 12 inch drops show slightly larger spikes, I would still consider the mattress to be quite good at isolating motion, as a result of the individually wrapped coils. This indicates that you’re unlikely to be overly disturbed by your bed mate’s midnight shimmies, making this an awesome option for couples.
Sinkage Test
When purchasing a new bed, most men and women wish to know whether they’ll feel like they’re sinking”into” the bed or laying “on top” of it. To picture this sinkage, I placed four balls of varying sizes and densities (a 6 pound medicine ball, a 10 lb steel ball, a 50 lb medicine ball, along with a 100 lb medicine ball) on the mattress then measured how much they compacted the top.
The variations in size, weight and density are meant to simulate different body parts and different sized sleepers. Dreamcloud Mattress Review Non Biased
– 6 lb medicine ball: 1.5 inches of sinkage.
– 10 lb steel ball: 2 inches of sinkage.
– 50 lb medicine ball: 4.5 inches of sinkage.
– 100 lb medicine ball: 5.5 inches of sinkage.
Even though you’re likely to experience some immediate sinkage from the soft foam at the top, by the time you sink through those layers, you are going to find the wrapped coils and experience amazing support. This combination will appeal to a wide range of sleepers, but will suit back and stomach sleepers the most.
Edge Support
If you’re going to share your mattress with a spouse and need to use the whole surface area of the mattress, then it is likely to be crucial that you consider the amount of edge support it’ll give you.
I’m especially interested to see if the DreamCloud will suffer the same fate as other compressed bed-in-a-box mattresses that fail to fulfill the edge support of more traditional innerspring models.
Lying on my back, I felt just as supported in the edge of the mattress as I did in the center. Going closer to the side, I experienced a bit of compression due to the top foam layers, but nothing too dramatic.
Shifting to my side, I once again noticed compression in the foam layers, but it did not carry over into the wrapped coil system under. This system, along with the polyfoam edge support around the mattress, did a great job of supporting my weight.
In this position, I wanted to simulate what it would feel like to be sitting on the bed in the morning when you are lacing up your shoes and getting ready for the day. A good deal of foam mattresses undergo a lot of compression in this position, but the DreamCloud really held up fairly well.
