As a hybrid mattress, the DreamCloud meets a number of our criteria for what a quality mattress must provide. With eight exceptional layers of comfort and support, the DreamCloud utilizes all of the right materials in its construction. Dreamcloud Pillows
From the tufted cashmere cover that gives great airflow, to the gel memory foam at the uppermost comfort layer, the DreamCloud was made to deliver a cooler night’s sleep. Below that are a mixture of memory foam and latex layers, meaning this bed contains better quality comfort materials than most other hybrid mattresses.
Despite the fact that it uses multiple memory foam layers, there’s not any hug or significant shaping to the bed. If you are searching to sink into a mattress, proceed from the DreamCloud.
A pocketed coil support core keeps you aligned all night long, especially for all you back sleepers on the market.

Construction Dreamcloud Pillows
The DreamCloud has an astoundingly tall profile for a mattress at a whopping 15 inches. The eight-layer construction is broken down to foam and wrapped coil components, which operate in tandem to provide the sleeper with a strong innerspring lift and lots of comfortable pressure relief.
Given all the different materials at play here, I am stoked to dive into these layers to see how well they interact with one another. Dreamcloud Pillows
Cover – The cover is made up of a cashmere and polyester mix for a soft feel up top. It’s also quilted with memory foam, which provides the sleeper with instant pressure relief.
Foam Layers – Below the cover, you will find three thin layers of foam. While these segments are soft to the touch and provide some pleasing sinkage, they also react quickly to pressure, so you won’t feel trapped in the bed. The middle of the three layers is particularly important for the temperature regulation of the DreamCloud as it is comprised of perforated latex foam. Latex in general is great at releasing heat, so the inclusion of these small ventilations promotes more cooling.
Pocketed Coils – The base layer of foam transitions to the firmer support section of this mattress, which is made up of a pocketed coil system. These individually wrapped springs provide the bed excellent rebound and assist disperse motion throughout the mattress. The coils also aid in regulating temperatures as the distances between them allow for continuous air flow.
Foundation Layer – A thin layer of high-density polyfoam lies at the bottom of the mattress, with the major use of cradling the pocketed coils and providing a solid foundation for the whole mattress.
Firmness
After having a peek at the construction of the DreamCloud, let us talk about the firmness and texture. I started off by applying mild hand pressure to the mattress and immediately felt the soft foam of the quilted cover and top layers. My hand flowed into the material and I could feel some instantaneous pressure relief. Pushing in farther, I began to interact with the pocketed coils below and experienced a nice lift from these springs.
At this point I’d like to note that people of different body types and shapes will sense firmness differently. As opposed to giving only my opinion on the general firmness level of this mattress, I invited three additional people to present their view as well. This will give you a better feeling of the firmness range you may see from the mattress.
As you can find in the chart above, the testers were pretty much in agreement about the stability of this mattress, giving it an average score of 7.75. Compared to the market norm of 6.5 for medium firmness and it’s apparent that this mattress is pretty firm.
I personally gave the bed a 7.5 and concur with the rest of the testers that it’s definitely a solid bed. While you’ll feel some slight sinking because of the plush foam top layers, the individually wrapped coils at the core will lift you from the mattress and make you feel as though you’re sleeping on top of the mattress.
Pressure Map
As opposed to just describing the feel of this mattress for you, I chose to provide a visual representation of where someone may feel pressure points shape while lying on it. To do so, I placed a pressure map above the bed and lied on my backside, and stomach. You can see the results on the picture below where pressure is denoted from blue (low pressure) to red (high pressure).
Back – Once on my back, my weight was evenly distributed throughout the mattress, therefore I did not feel as though I was sinking into the bed at all. The quilted cover provided quality relief at my lumbar region and the pocketed coils helped to lift me from the mattress and keep my back in alignment.
Side – As you can see in the chart above, after I rolled onto my side, I began to feel pressure forming at my hips and shoulders. But, I felt supported and the top foam layers relieved what discomfort I felt in this position.
Stomach – Shifting over to my stomach, I thought that the DreamCloud did a fantastic job of lifting my hips up and out of the mattress, which is crucial for stomach sleepers. I should mention that I managed to transition across these positions with relative ease.
Motion Transfer
If you intend on sharing your bed with a partner, you’ll want to find out what it’ll feel like when another individual crawls out of bed in the morning or tosses around during the night. This next test is meant to demonstrate the intensity of movement that’s detectable from 1 side of the mattress to another. Dreamcloud Pillows
To illustrate this motion transfer, I dropped a 10 lb steel ball from heights of 4 inches, 8 inches and 12 inches and then quantified the disturbance it generated: the larger the lines, the larger the disturbance.
The DreamCloud demonstrates a little bit of disturbance for the 4 inch drop, which simulates somebody rolling around and adjusting their position on the other side of the mattress. While the 8 and 12 inch drops reveal slightly larger spikes, I would still consider the mattress to be quite good at isolating movement, thanks to its individually wrapped coils. This indicates that you’re not likely to be overly disturbed by your mattress mate’s midnight shimmies, which makes this an awesome option for couples.
Sinkage Test
When purchasing a new bed, most men and women want to know whether they will feel like they’re sinking”into” the mattress or lying “on top” of it. To visualize this sinkage, I put 4 balls of varying sizes and densities (a 6 pound medicine ball, a 10 lb steel ball, a 50 pound medicine ball, and a 100 pound medicine ball) on the mattress and measured how much they compressed the surface.
The variations in size, weight and density are supposed to simulate distinct body parts and different sized sleepers. Dreamcloud Pillows
– 6 lb medicine ball: 1.5 inches of sinkage.
– 10 lb steel ball: 2 inches of sinkage.
– 50 lb medicine ball: 4.5 inches of sinkage.
– 100 lb medicine ball: 5.5 inches of sinkage.
Even though you’re going to experience some instant sinkage from the soft foam on top, by the time you sink through these layers, you are going to hit the wrapped coils and experience fantastic support. This combination will interest a wide range of sleepers, but will suit back and stomach sleepers in particular.
Edge Support
If you are going to share your bed with a partner and will need to utilize the whole surface area of the mattress, then it’s likely to be crucial for you to consider the amount of edge support it will give you.
I’m particularly interested to determine if the DreamCloud will endure the exact same fate as other compacted bed-in-a-box mattresses which fail to live up to the edge support of more conventional innerspring versions.
Lying on my back, I felt just as supported at the edge of the bed as I did at the center. Pressing closer to the side, I experienced a bit of compression because of the highest foam layers, but nothing overly dramatic.
Changing to my side, I once again noticed compression in the foam layers, but it didn’t carry over into the wrapped coil system beneath. This system, together with the polyfoam edge support round the mattress, did a good job of supporting my body.
In this position, I wished to simulate what it’d feel like to be sitting on top of the bed in the morning when you are tying your shoes and getting ready for the day. A good deal of foam mattresses undergo a lot of compression in this position, but the DreamCloud really held up fairly good.
