As a hybrid mattress, the DreamCloud fulfills a number of our criteria for what a excellent bed must have. With eight exceptional layers of comfort and support, the DreamCloud utilizes all of the proper materials in its construction. Dreamcloud Tuck
From the tufted cashmere cover that gives great airflow, to the gel memory foam at the uppermost comfort layer, the DreamCloud is designed to promote a cooler night’s sleep. Resting below are a mixture of polyurethane foam and latex layers, meaning this bed contains better quality relaxation materials than most other hybrid mattresses.
Even though it utilizes multiple memory foam layers, there’s not any hug or significant shaping to the mattress. If you’re searching to sink into a mattress, then proceed from the DreamCloud.
A pocketed coil support core keeps you aligned all night long, especially so for all you back sleepers out there.

Construction Dreamcloud Tuck
The DreamCloud features a tall profile for a mattress at a whopping 15 inches. The eight-layer structure is broken down into foam and wrapped coil components, which operate in tandem to provide the sleeper with a firm innerspring lift and lots of comfortable pressure relief.
Given all the different materials at play , I am stoked to get into these layers to see how well they interact with one another. Dreamcloud Tuck
Cover – The cover is composed of a cashmere and polyester mix for a luxuriously soft feel up top. Additionally, it is quilted with memory foam, which supplies the sleeper with instant relaxation.
Foam Layers – Under the cover, you’ll find three thin layers of polyurethane. While these sections are soft to the touch and supply some satisfying sinkage, they also respond quickly to pressure, so that you won’t feel stuck in the mattress. The center of these three layers is especially essential because of the temperature regulation of the DreamCloud as it is comprised of perforated latex foam. Latex in general is great at releasing heat, so the addition of these small ventilations promotes even more cooling.
Pocketed Coils – The base layer of foam transitions to the firmer support section of the mattress, which is composed of a pocketed coil system. These individually wrapped springs give the mattress excellent bounce and help to disperse motion throughout the structure. The coils also assist in regulating temperature as the spaces between them permit steady air flow.
Foundation Layer – A thin layer of high-density polyfoam lies in the base of the mattress, with the main use of cradling the pocketed coils and providing a solid foundation for the whole mattress.
Firmness
After having a look at the construction of the DreamCloud, let us talk about the firmness and texture. I started off by putting light hand pressure to the bed and immediately felt the soft foam of the quilted cover and top layers. My hands flowed into the material and I could sense some instant pressure relief. Pushing in farther, I started to interact with the pocketed coils beneath and experienced a nice lift from these springs.
At this point I want to let you know that people of different body types and shapes will sense firmness differently. As opposed to giving just my opinion on the overall firmness level of this mattress, I invited three other individuals to present their opinion too. This will give you a better sense of the firmness range you can see from the bed.
As you can see in the chart above, the testers were pretty much in agreement about the stability of this mattress, giving it an average rating of 7.75. Compare this to the industry norm of 6.5 for medium firmness and it’s clear that this bed is pretty firm.
Personally, I gave the mattress a 7.5 and agree with the other testers that it is definitely a solid mattress. At the same time you’ll feel some small sinking from the plush foam top layers, the individually wrapped coils in the core will lift you from the bed and make you feel as though you’re sleeping on top of this mattress.
Pressure Map
Rather than simply describing the feel of the DreamCloud for you, I chose to give a visual representation of where somebody may feel pressure points form while lying on it. To do so, I placed a pressure map on top of the bed and lied on my back, side, and tummy. You can see the outcomes on the picture below where pressure is denoted from blue (low pressure) to red (high pressure).
Back – When on my backside, my weight was evenly dispersed across the mattress, therefore I didn’t feel as though I was sinking into the mattress in any way. The quilted cover gave quality relief at my lumbar region and the pocketed coils helped to lift me out of the mattress and keep my back in alignment.
Side – As you can see in the chart above, after I rolled onto my side, I started to feel pressure forming at my shoulders and hips. But, I still felt supported and the top foam layers relieved what discomfort I felt in this position.
Stomach – Shifting over to my belly, I thought the DreamCloud did a great job of lifting my hips up and from the mattress, which is crucial for stomach sleepers. I should mention that I managed to shift across these positions with comparative ease.
Motion Transfer
If you plan on sharing your mattress with a partner, you will want to find out what it’ll feel like when the other individual crawls out of bed in the morning or tosses around during the night. This next test is meant to demonstrate the high level of movement that is detectable from 1 side of the mattress to another. Dreamcloud Tuck
To show you this motion transfer, I dropped a 10 pound steel ball from heights of 4 inches, 8 inches and 12 inches and then measured the disturbance it generated: the bigger the lines, the larger the disturbance.
The DreamCloud demonstrates a little bit of disturbance for the 4 inch drop, which simulates someone rolling around and adjusting their position on the other side of the bed. While the 8 and 12 inch drops show slightly larger spikes, I would still consider the mattress to be pretty good at isolating movement, thanks to its individually wrapped coils. This means that you’re unlikely to be too disturbed by your mattress partner’s midnight shimmies, making this a great solution for couples.
Sinkage Test
When buying a new bed, the majority of people want to know whether they’ll feel as though they’re sinking”into” the bed or laying “on top” of it. To visualize this sinkage, I placed four balls of different sizes and densities (a 6 lb medicine ball, a 10 pound steel ball, a 50 lb medicine ball, along with a 100 lb medicine ball) on the mattress then measured how much they compacted the top.
The variations in size, weight and density are meant to mimic distinct body parts and different sized sleepers. Dreamcloud Tuck
– 6 lb medicine ball: 1.5 inches of sinkage.
– 10 lb steel ball: 2 inches of sinkage.
– 50 lb medicine ball: 4.5 inches of sinkage.
– 100 lb medicine ball: 5.5 inches of sinkage.
While you’re likely to encounter some immediate sinkage in the soft foam at the top, by the time you sink through those layers, you are going to find the wrapped coils and experience fantastic support. This combination will appeal to a wide range of sleepers, but will suit stomach and back sleepers the most.
Edge Support
If you are going to share your mattress with a partner and will need to utilize the whole surface area of the mattress, it is likely to be crucial for you to consider the amount of edge support it’ll provide.
I’m particularly interested to see if the DreamCloud will endure the same fate as other compacted bed-in-a-box mattresses that fail to live up to the edge support of more traditional innerspring models.
Lying on my back, I felt as supported at the edge of the mattress as I did at the center. Going closer to the side, I felt a bit of compression because of the highest foam layers, but nothing too dramatic.
Shifting to my side, I noticed compression in the foam layers, but it didn’t carry over into the wrapped coil system below. This system, together with the polyfoam edge support around the mattress, did a good job of supporting my weight.
In this position, I wanted to simulate what it’d feel like to be sitting on the bed in the morning when you’re lacing up your shoes and getting ready for work. A good deal of foam mattresses undergo severe compression in this position, but the DreamCloud actually held up fairly good.
