As a hybrid mattress, the DreamCloud fulfills many of our standards for what a excellent mattress should have. With eight exceptional layers of support and comfort, the DreamCloud uses all of the right materials in its construction. Dreamcloud Twin
From the tufted cashmere cover that gives good airflow, to the gel memory foam at the uppermost comfort layer, the DreamCloud is designed to promote a cooler night’s sleep. Resting below are a mixture of memory foam and latex layers, meaning this mattress includes better quality relaxation materials than most other hybrid mattresses.
Despite the fact that it utilizes multiple memory foam layers, there is no hug or significant shaping to the bed. If you are looking to sink into a mattress, then move on from the DreamCloud.
A pocketed coil support core keeps you aligned all night long, especially for all you back sleepers out there.

Construction Dreamcloud Twin
The DreamCloud features an astoundingly tall profile for a mattress at a humongous 15 inches. The eight-layer structure is broken down to foam and wrapped coil components, which work in tandem to supply the sleeper with a strong innerspring lift and plenty of comfy pressure relief.
Given all of the distinct materials at play here, I’m stoked to dive into these layers to see how well they interact together. Dreamcloud Twin
Cover – The cover is made up of a cashmere and polyester blend for a luxuriously soft texture up top. Additionally, it is built with memory foam, which supplies the sleeper with immediate relaxation.
Foam Layers – Below the cover, you’ll discover three thin layers of polyurethane. While these segments are soft to the touch and supply some pleasing sinkage, they also react quickly to pressure, so that you won’t feel trapped in the bed. The center of the three layers is particularly important for the temperature regulation of the DreamCloud as it’s made up of perforated latex foam. Latex in general is good at dissipating heat, so the inclusion of those tiny ventilations promotes more cooling.
Pocketed Coils – The base layer of polyurethane transitions into the firmer support segment of the mattress, which is made up of a pocketed coil system. These individually wrapped springs give the bed excellent bounce and help to disperse motion throughout the mattress. The coils also assist in moderating temperatures as the distances between them permit steady air flow.
Foundation Layer – A thin layer of high-density polyfoam lies at the bottom of the mattress, with the main use of cradling the pocketed coils and providing a solid foundation for the entire mattress.
Firmness
After having a peek at the construction of the DreamCloud, let’s chat about the firmness and texture. I started off by applying mild hand pressure into the mattress and immediately felt the soft foam of the quilted cover and first layers. My hands flowed into the material and I could feel some instant pressure relief. Pushing in further, I began to interact with all the pocketed coils below and experienced a nice lift from these springs.
At this point I want to note that individuals of different body types and shapes will feel firmness differently. Rather than giving only my view on the general firmness level of the DreamCloud, I invited three other people to present their opinion too. This will provide you with a much better sense of the firmness range you can see from the bed.
As you can find in the chart above, the testers were in agreement about the stability of the mattress, giving it a mean score of 7.75. Compare this to the industry norm of 6.5 for moderate firmness and it is apparent that this bed is really firm.
I personally gave the mattress a 7.5 and concur with the rest of the testers that it’s definitely a solid mattress. While you’ll feel some slight sinking because of the plush foam top layers, the individually wrapped coils in the core will lift you out of this bed and make you feel like you’re sleeping on top of the mattress.
Pressure Map
As opposed to just describing the feel of the mattress to you, I chose to provide a visual representation of where somebody may feel pressure points form while lying on it. To do this, I placed a pressure map above the mattress and lied on my backside, and stomach. You can see the results on the image below where pressure is represented from blue (low pressure) to red (high pressure).
Back – Once on my backside, my weight was equally dispersed throughout the mattress, therefore I did not feel as though I was sinking into the mattress in any way. The quilted cover gave quality relief at my lumbar region and also the pocketed coils helped to lift me out of the mattress and keep my spine in alignment.
Side – As you can see in the chart above, once I rolled onto my side, I started to feel pressure forming at my shoulders and hips. But, I still felt supported while the top foam layers alleviated what discomfort I felt in this position.
Stomach – Shifting over to my stomach, I believed that the DreamCloud did a great job of lifting my hips up and out of the bed, which is crucial for stomach sleepers. I must mention that I managed to transition across these positions with comparative ease.
Motion Transfer
If you intend on sharing your mattress with a partner, you’ll want to find out what it will feel like if the other individual crawls out of bed in the break of dawn or tosses around during the night. This next test is meant to demonstrate the high level of movement that’s detectable from 1 side of the mattress from another. Dreamcloud Twin
To illustrate this motion transfer, I dropped a 10 lb steel ball from heights of 4 inches, 8 inches and 12 inches and quantified the disturbance it caused: the larger the lines, the larger the disturbance.
The DreamCloud demonstrates a small amount of disturbance for the four inch drop, which simulates somebody tossing around and adjusting their position on the other side of the bed. While the 8 and 12 inch drops show slightly larger spikes, I’d still regard the mattress to be pretty good at isolating motion, as a result of its individually wrapped coils. This indicates you’re unlikely to be too disturbed by your bed mate’s midnight shimmies, making this an awesome option for couples.
Sinkage Test
When purchasing a new mattress, most men and women wish to know whether they will feel as though they’re sinking”into” the mattress or laying “on top” of it. To visualize this sinkage, I placed four balls of different sizes and densities (a 6 lb medicine ball, a 10 pound steel ball, a 50 pound medicine ball, and a 100 pound medicine ball) on the mattress then quantified how much they compacted the top.
The variations in size, weight and density are supposed to mimic distinct body parts and different sized sleepers. Dreamcloud Twin
– 6 lb medicine ball: 1.5 inches of sinkage.
– 10 lb steel ball: 2 inches of sinkage.
– 50 lb medicine ball: 4.5 inches of sinkage.
– 100 lb medicine ball: 5.5 inches of sinkage.
Even though you’re likely to encounter some immediate sinkage from the soft foam at the top, by the time you sink through those layers, you are going to find the wrapped coils and experience amazing support. This combo will appeal to a wide range of sleepers, but will suit back and stomach sleepers the most.
Edge Support
If you are going to share your mattress with a spouse and will need to use the whole surface area of the mattress, then it’s likely to be crucial that you consider the amount of edge support it will give you.
I’m especially interested to see whether the DreamCloud will endure the exact same fate as other compacted bed-in-a-box mattresses that fail to live up to the edge support of more traditional innerspring versions.
Laying on my back, I felt as supported in the edge of the bed as I did in the center. Pressing closer to the side, I felt a bit of compression because of the top foam layers, but nothing overly dramatic.
Shifting to my side, I noticed compression in the foam layers, but it did not carry over to the wrapped coil system beneath. This system, together with the polyfoam edge support round the mattress, did a great job of supporting my weight.
In this position, I wished to simulate what it would feel like to be sitting on the bed in the morning when you’re lacing up your shoes and getting ready for work. A lot of foam mattresses experience a lot of compression in this position, but the DreamCloud really held up fairly well.
