Because it’s a hybrid mattress, the DreamCloud meets a number of our criteria for what a quality bed must provide. With eight exceptional layers of support and comfort, the DreamCloud utilizes all of the right materials in its construction. Review Of Dreamcloud Mattress
From the tufted cashmere cover that provides great airflow, to the gel memory foam in the uppermost comfort layer, the DreamCloud is designed to deliver a cooler night’s sleep. Resting below are a mix of memory foam and latex layers, meaning this mattress contains better quality comfort materials than most other hybrid mattresses.
Even though it uses multiple memory foam layers, there is not any hug or significant contouring to the mattress. If you’re searching to sink into a mattress, move on from the DreamCloud.
A pocketed coil support center keeps you aligned all night long, particularly for all you back sleepers on the market.

Construction Review Of Dreamcloud Mattress
The DreamCloud has an astoundingly tall profile for a mattress at a humongous 15 inches. The eight-layer construction is broken down into foam and wrapped coil components, which operate in tandem to provide the sleeper with a strong innerspring lift and plenty of comfy pressure relief.
Given all the different materials at play , I am stoked to get into these layers to understand how well they interact with one another. Review Of Dreamcloud Mattress
Cover – The cover is made up of a cashmere and polyester blend for a luxuriously soft feel up top. It’s also built with memory foam, which supplies the sleeper with immediate pressure relief.
Foam Layers – Below the cover, you’ll find three thin layers of polyurethane. While these segments are soft to the touch and provide some satisfying sinkage, they also respond quickly to pressure, so you won’t feel stuck in the bed. The middle of the three layers is especially essential for the temperature regulation of the DreamCloud as it is made up of perforated latex foam. Latex generally is great at dissipating heat, so the inclusion of those small ventilations encourages more cooling.
Pocketed Coils – The base layer of polyurethane transitions to the firmer support section of this mattress, which is made up of a pocketed coil system. These individually wrapped springs provide the mattress excellent rebound and assist disperse motion throughout the structure. The coils also aid in regulating temperature as the distances between them allow for continuous air flow.
Foundation Layer – A thin layer of high-density polyfoam is found in the bottom of the mattress, with the main use of cradling the pocketed coils and providing a solid foundation for the entire mattress.
Firmness
After having a look at the construction of the DreamCloud, let us talk about the firmness and texture. I started off by putting light hand pressure to the mattress and instantly felt the soft foam of the quilted cover and top layers. My hand sunk into the material and I could sense some instant pressure relief. Pushing in further, I started to interact with all the pocketed coils below and experienced a nice lift from the springs.
At this point I want to note that individuals of different body shapes and types will feel firmness differently. Rather than giving just my opinion on the general firmness level of this DreamCloud, I invited three other individuals to give their view too. This will provide you with a much better sense of the firmness range you can see from the mattress.
As you can find in the graph above, the testers were in agreement about the stability of the DreamCloud, giving it a mean score of 7.75. Compared to the market norm of 6.5 for medium firmness and it is clear that this mattress is pretty firm.
I personally gave the mattress a 7.5 and agree with the rest of the testers that it’s definitely a solid bed. While you’ll feel some slight sinking from the plush foam top layers, the individually wrapped coils in the center will lift you from this bed and make you feel as though you’re sleeping on top of the mattress.
Pressure Map
As opposed to just describing the feel of this DreamCloud for you, I wanted to provide a visual representation of where someone may feel pressure points form while lying on it. To do so, I put a pressure map above the bed and lied on my backside, and tummy. You can find the results on the picture below where pressure is denoted from blue (low pressure) to red (high pressure).
Back – Once on my backside, my weight was equally distributed across the mattress, therefore I didn’t feel like I was sinking into the mattress in any way. The quilted cover gave quality relief at my lumbar region and the pocketed coils helped to lift me out of the mattress and keep my spine in alignment.
Side – As you can see in the chart above, once I rolled onto my side, I began to feel pressure forming in my shoulders and hips. But, I still felt supported while the top foam layers alleviated what distress I felt in this position.
Stomach – Shifting over to my belly, I believed the DreamCloud did a fantastic job of lifting my hips upward and out of the bed, which is key for stomach sleepers. I must mention that I managed to transition across these positions with relative ease.
Motion Transfer
If you intend on sharing your mattress with a partner, you’ll want to find out what it will feel like if another person crawls out of bed in the morning or tosses around during the night. This next test is intended to demonstrate the high level of motion that’s detectable from 1 side of the mattress from another. Review Of Dreamcloud Mattress
To illustrate this motion transfer, I dropped a 10 pound steel ball from heights of 4 inches, 8 inches and 12 inches and then quantified the disturbance it generated: the larger the lines, the larger the disturbance.
The DreamCloud shows a little bit of disturbance for the four inch drop, which simulates someone tossing around and adjusting their position on the opposite side of the mattress. While the 8 and 12 inch drops show slightly larger spikes, I would still consider the mattress to be quite good at isolating movement, as a result of the individually wrapped coils. This means you’re unlikely to be too disturbed by your bed mate’s midnight shimmies, which makes this a great solution for couples.
Sinkage Test
When buying a new mattress, most men and women wish to know whether they will feel as though they’re sinking”into” the mattress or laying “on top” of it. To picture this sinkage, I put four balls of varying sizes and densities (a 6 lb medicine ball, a 10 pound steel ball, a 50 lb medicine ball, along with a 100 pound medicine ball) on the mattress then quantified how much they compacted the top.
The variations in size, density and weight are meant to simulate distinct body parts and different sized sleepers. Review Of Dreamcloud Mattress
– 6 lb medicine ball: 1.5 inches of sinkage.
– 10 lb steel ball: 2 inches of sinkage.
– 50 lb medicine ball: 4.5 inches of sinkage.
– 100 lb medicine ball: 5.5 inches of sinkage.
While you’re going to experience some instant sinkage in the soft foam at the top, by the time you sink through those layers, you are going to find the wrapped coils and experience amazing support. This combination will interest a wide range of sleepers, but will satisfy stomach and back sleepers the most.
Edge Support
If you’re going to share your bed with a spouse and will need to utilize the entire surface area of the mattress, it is likely to be crucial for you to think about the amount of edge support it will provide.
I am especially interested to determine if the DreamCloud will suffer the same fate as other compressed bed-in-a-box mattresses which fail to fulfill the edge support of more conventional innerspring versions.
Laying on my back, I felt as supported at the edge of the mattress as I did in the middle. Pressing closer to the side, I experienced a little compression because of the top foam layers, but nothing overly dramatic.
Shifting to my side, I once again noticed compression in the foam layers, but it did not carry over into the coil system below. This system, together with the polyfoam edge support round the mattress, did a good job of supporting my body.
In this position, I wanted to simulate what it’d feel like to be sitting on top of the mattress in the morning when you’re tying your shoes and getting ready for work. A lot of foam mattresses experience a lot of compression in this position, but the DreamCloud actually held up fairly good.
