The DreamCloud features a tall profile for a mattress at a whopping 15 inches. The eight-layer structure is broken down into foam and wrapped coil parts, which operate in tandem to supply the sleeper with a strong innerspring lift and plenty of comfy pressure relief.

Cover – The cover is made up of a cashmere and polyester mix for a luxuriously soft texture up top. It’s also quilted with memory foam, which supplies the sleeper with immediate pressure relief.
Foam Layers – Below the cover, you’ll discover three thin layers of polyurethane. Firmness
After taking a look at the construction of the DreamCloud, let us talk about the firmness and feel. I started off by applying mild hand pressure into the mattress and instantly felt the soft foam of the quilted cover and top layers. My hands sunk into the material and I could feel some instant pressure relief. Pushing in further, I started to interact with the pocketed coils below and experienced a pleasant lift from these springs.
Now I want to let you know that people of different body types and shapes will feel firmness differently. As opposed to giving just my view on the overall firmness level of this mattress, I invited three other individuals to give their view too. This will give you a better feeling of the firmness range you can expect from the bed.
As you can see in the chart above, the testers were pretty much in agreement about the stability of the DreamCloud, giving it an average rating of 7.75. Compared to the industry norm of 6.5 for moderate firmness and it’s apparent that this mattress is pretty firm.
Personally, I gave the mattress a 7.5 and agree with the other testers that it’s definitely a solid mattress. At the same time you’ll feel some slight sinking from the lavish foam top layers, the individually wrapped coils in the core will lift you from this mattress and make you feel as though you’re sleeping on top of the mattress.
Pressure Map
Rather than just explaining the feel of the mattress for you, I chose to give a visual representation of where someone may feel pressure points form while lying on it. To do so, I placed a pressure map on top of the mattress and lied on my back, side, and stomach. You can find the results on the picture below where pressure is represented from blue (low pressure) to red (high pressure).
Back – Once on my back, my weight was evenly dispersed across the mattress, therefore I didn’t feel like I was sinking into the mattress at all. The quilted cover provided quality relief in my lumbar region and the pocketed coils helped lift me out of the bed and keep my spine in alignment.
Side – As you can see in the chart above, after I rolled onto my side, I began to feel pressure forming at my hips and shoulders. However, I still felt supported and the top foam layers alleviated what distress I felt in this position.
Stomach – Switching over to my belly, I thought that the DreamCloud did a great job of lifting my hips upward and out of the bed, which can be key for stomach sleepers. I must mention that I managed to shift across these positions with comparative ease.
Motion Transfer
If you plan on sharing your bed with a partner, you will want to find out what it’ll feel like when another individual crawls out of bed in the break of dawn or tosses around at nighttime. To show you this motion transfer, I dropped a 10 pound steel ball from heights of 4 inches, 8 inches and 12 inches and then quantified the disturbance it caused: the bigger the lines, the bigger the disturbance.
The DreamCloud shows a small amount of disturbance for the four inch drop, which simulates somebody tossing around and adjusting their position on the opposite side of the bed. While the 8 and 12 inch drops reveal slightly bigger spikes, I would still consider the mattress to be pretty good at isolating motion, thanks to the individually wrapped coils. This means that you’re unlikely to be overly disturbed by your bed mate’s midnight shimmies, making this an awesome solution for couples.
Sinkage Test
While buying a new mattress, most people want to know whether they will feel like they’re sinking”into” the mattress or laying “on top” of it. To visualize this sinkage, I put four balls of varying sizes and densities (a 6 pound medicine ball, a 10 lb steel ball, a 50 pound medicine ball, along with a 100 lb medicine ball) on the mattress then quantified how much they compacted the top.

– 6 lb medicine ball: 1.5 inches of sinkage.
– 10 lb steel ball: 2 inches of sinkage.
– 50 lb medicine ball: 4.5 inches of sinkage.
– 100 lb medicine ball: 5.5 inches of sinkage.
Even though you’re going to experience some immediate sinkage in the soft foam on top, by the time you sink through those layers, you are going to hit the wrapped coils and feel fantastic support. This combo will interest a vast range of sleepers, but will suit stomach and back sleepers the most.
Edge Support
If you are going to share your bed with a spouse and need to use the whole surface area of the mattress, it is going to be crucial that you consider the amount of edge support it will give you.

In this position, I wished to simulate what it’d feel like to be sitting on top of the mattress in the morning when you’re lacing up your shoes and getting ready for work. A lot of foam mattresses experience a lot of compression in this position, but the DreamCloud really held up fairly well.
